That's what made this election so embarrassing on how Trump won. He campaigned heavily on racism and...won. You could argue that he was trying to get the radical Republicans who control the primaries to support him but imagine for whatever reason Trump is no longer president (once he is officially president of course) before the next election. Then we'll have Mike Pence, a man who hates gays with a passion, and refuses to condemn former KKK leader David Duke. Trump may or may not be a character but Pence is a white supremacist. Isn't a doubt in my mind. I don't even know how to feel right now. I'm not crying, I'm like a parent who saw their child get into something really stupid which will almost likely end in disaster. But you had confidence that they'd not do this, but here we are. Trump had a lot of supporters because he's "not a politician" but no government experience will be disastrous. Imagine if you hired a guy who isn't a plumber to fix your plumbing system. When there's 3 inches of feces and sludge flooding the floor, you only have yourself to blame.
There is grieving going on, Adam, and I'm guessing it will go on for awhile. This election is one of the most dramatic ones I've seen in my lifetime. Everyone is exhausted and frustrated and angry. I hope that you and all your fellow citizens come together as a united nation and hammer out solutions to your problems. I certainly understand how difficult it must be to remain optimistic but I hope you give it a try. Maybe not today or tomorrow or even next week or next month. But eventually when this shock dissipates, give it a try. And keep fighting for everything you believe in. The election is over and the people have voted. We don't always like the result but that's what happens in a democracy. I sincerely hope that everything turns out well.
Adam and Martha......very well said. I woke up this morning feeling rested....then it hit me.....Trump was elected as leader of the 'free world'. I feel like I was hit with a 2X4.So many people will be adversely affected by this and all we can do is sit back and watch this happen. Something is not right.
We will see how it plays out, Jim. In the meantime, I hope my southern friends unite and work together. The country has been extremely divided. And very angry.
People didn't vote for Clinton because they wanted change. It's nothing to do with hiring a plumber.
We will see what happens.
I am well and truly saddened and scared today.
Understandable. I hope everything turns out well.
I do agree without diversity, the world would be pretty "blah." Now with diversity, we have to find a way to be united for a common good and goal :) betty
You got it, Betty. We must all learn to live together peacefully.
I'm slightly changing the quote on your sidebar, it kind of sums up what has happened here in the USA. "Man and Woman is a clever animal who behaves like an imbecile." The only person who won this election is Trump, the rest of us are all losers.
I hope in time things settle and you can unite again. This election has been explosive.
There is beauty in diversity. I wish for everyone to be able to see it. As for the election...either way it went I was going to worry as neither of the options seemed great but I am prepared to try to be optimistic...at least for now.
That's great, Cheryl. Remaining optimistic is important.
I agree that things would be boring without diversity.
Diversity is beautiful and helps make life interesting. Sadly, our election is like a mandate against diversity.
Now that the election is over, I hope things get better.
Indeed. How boring life would be if we were all the same.
Yes, very boring.
If we could only live that way! There are too many places where there is separation.
If only. Perhaps future generations will do much better.
Sigh....I truly wish diversity was honored but it seems the majority in my country don't feel that way. I'm truly worried what the next four years will bring....
Totally understandable. And I truly hope everything turns out okay.
A needed reminder for the world. Thank you, Martha.
You're welcome, Robyn. Hang in there...
Good words here, MarthaAll the best Jan
Thank you, Jan. I hope you had a lovely day.
I read that an instantly thought of so many bloggers/social media "celebrities" who think that everyone has to be like them and think the way they do and agree with everything they say and if you dare to be different and not be like them then off with their head.Just a pity more of them don't think this way instead.
People can be quite rigid about their beliefs/opinions. Their way is the ONLY right way.
