Christmas Eve. The most enchanted day of the year. 51 years later and I still feel that little girl stirring inside me. Excited and joyful and optimistic. Such is the magic of this day.
Between 9 PM Christmas Eve and 2 AM Christmas morning, there is something so tender, so mesmerizing and so promising about those hours. In that fleeting period, a peacefulness sweeps across the land that is without equal. Warmth envelopes our hearts, compassion rises to the surface and we recognize that we all have similar dreams and hopes and vulnerabilities and fears. Every single one of us on a comparable journey; one that we don’t always understand.
When Christmas Eve arrives, it brings with it the greatest gift of all: harmony.
May we all carry that gift with us into every day of the year.
Peace, love and joy to all of you.

ReplyDeleteI was just remarking to the cashier at Wal-Mart this morning how it quiets down for a bit on Christmas Eve through Christmas Day and then the rush starts back up again the day after Christmas, but just for a bit, things truly do seem peaceful, less rushed, less stress, harmony indeed. (and its good to know that Wal-Mart as well as a lot of other grocery stores here are closed on Christmas).
Merry Christmas Martha and the most wonderful man!
betty

DeleteChristmas signifies many good things like peace and harmony. why don't people get such a simple thing?
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a good answer! It is a simple thing to understand...

Totally agree with you that Christmas Eve brings a period of love and tenderness that is hard to replicate any other period in the year. (sadly) My wish is that most people experience it.
ReplyDeleteIf only that feeling was alive and well in all of us throughout the year!
