This Week

Me at the start of the week:

Me today:

We’re getting down to the last couple of weeks before we move out of this house so being a little tired is to be expected. At least we’re almost done. Then we can move our stuff over to our new house and relax.

Um...not exactly

When we get there we have to clean and paint and settle furniture and open all the boxes we packed and put away all that crap stuff and and and and…

Ah, well. At least today I run away for a little while. To the dentist. Okay, it’s not the most exciting outing but my pearly whites will be squeaky clean after they’re scraped and scrubbed, which is a good thing because I’d like to have some teeth in my old age. No puréed food for me, thank you very much.

And that’s all I have to say. Not much else has been going on and I’m drawing a blank today. Perhaps your week has been a little more interesting. If it has, please share below in the comments. I’d love to hear all about it.

Have a terrific weekend, everyone!

  1. Hard work indeed with moving. Not my favorite thing to do, but worth it in the end once it gets all done. Have a good weekend. This week got me all out of sorts. Hubby was out of town for a few days, threw my schedule all off. Looking forward to a restful weekend.

  2. Getting exhausted just thinking about it. New beginnings are so darn exciting though...aren't they? Hope you are able to embrace them and treasure the memories and take it all one step at a time. You can live with dirty paint for awhile, you can tolerate old tile for a bit....and unpacking slowly has it's merits. You get a good idea of how little you can be getting on with. I donated more kitchen and clothing items when I realized I didn't open the boxes for 8 months and didn't miss what was inside :)

    1. All great points, Linda! I've had some stuff packed since the beginning of the year and I not only don't miss it, I don't even know what's been packed. In any case, I plan to donate more things when we settle into our new home. I'll have more time for that after the list of priorities is taken care of. It is exhausting but, yes, new beginnings are exciting. I'm looking forward to that!

    2. How has your winter been overall? Ours has been crazy mild (for this area).

    3. Same here. It's hardly felt like winter this year.

    4. So weird this year.

My friend from the east coast said she's already got spring flowers.

  4. I have a sudden craving for a Chiclet ...

And I can imagine the tiredness. And the work that awaits. All you can do is go ahead, one day at a time. But you know that :)

  11. Remember that moving out is chaotic because you are on a time limit. Moving in can be calm. Take as much time as you need to settle in and find n w homes for all your stuff.

    1. You are so right. Getting this house packed is the hard part because we have a deadline to meet. But once we get into our new home we will pace ourselves and tackle one project at a time.

  12. Now I'd like to know how much crap you move to the new house and then decide to throw it away? Yes the time to fix the house up is before you move in.

    1. I'm sure there'll be plenty of crap that will be given away after our move. I've had things packed for weeks and I haven't missed it!

    2. I like this one. They've been packed for weeks and they're not missed.

    3. That's a perfect way to see what you don't need!

  13. Whenever I have moved, the undpacking was done with the assumption of "one box at a time". Little by little it will all be over soon although, I'm sure you don't feel that way when you're right in the middle of it. B-R-E-A-T-H-E!

    1. It's the moving from this house that is a pain. Once we settle in the new place, we'll be in a better position. And I'm going to do exactly that: one box at a time!

  14. It is a lot of work, but how nice it will be to paint your new place in the colors you choose.

  17. I honestly think when we retire in a couple of years, I'm going to pay to have someone come box the kitchen up. It's the worst part, and I'm just too freakin' old. LOL

  18. My week hasn't been interesting at all. I'm sleepy after reading about the work you have to do to move.
