Chuckles and Chortles

Happy Monday, everyone! We are on our fourth day of - drum roll, please! - sunshine and warm weather. Can you believe it? This is some kind of record for us. And it's wonderful. It makes me want to skip with joy. Maybe I'll do just that. Be right back...

Okay, I'm back. That was enjoyable...

Yesterday I met up with a couple of old friends for breakfast in Vaudreuil, which is about 40 minutes from home. We had a lot of fun! These two women and I have known each other since we were 12. And even though it's been awhile since we all got together, it's like we saw each other yesterday. That's what it's like with some friends. When we were in high school, we three together with two other girls were inseparable. We spent every day together, had a blast and created some memorable - and hilarious - memories. I'm just thrilled that I'm able to see them regularly now that we've moved closer.

I've decided to clean the grout on the bathroom floor tiles today. I hate doing this but I've put it off long enough. When grout gets dirty it is disgustingly dirty. I can't stand to look at it anymore and I've been searching for other projects around the house as an excuse not to do this. Today I will be brave and tackle this. I'm going to take before and after photos to brag about the results document the transition of this home.

Okay, enough slacking off. There is work waiting for me. And there are these funnies waiting for you.

Have a great day ahead!

    1. There are many different ways to do it. None of them fun! :)

  2. Hello Martha,

It's nice that you've stayed friends after all this time. Unfortunately it's not-such-great weather that we're having here right now. I've done work around the house that I'd rather not have to do. Once you start it you've just got to finish it.

    1. That's it, isn't it? Once you start it, you feel compelled to finish it. No matter how bad the job.

  4. LOL great funnies today. I love the tree ones. Gosh I lost touch with all of my old friends over the years, but for me it was a good thing. I had a life to start over so it just happened that way! But it's nice that you all have stayed in touch and have the opportunity to see each other! It's been at least 4 days in a row since summer reappeared here too! Yahoo! But there is rain in the forecast for 2-3 days...I can handle that! :)

    1. I've kept in touch with only a handful of old friends. They are the ones that I want to have in my life. As an introvert, my circle isn't very big, so I can be quite selective with the people I want around me. I don't need a lot of friends, just a few good ones.

It is still going strong with the sun here since Friday. I'm really loving it! I don't mind some rain now and again, but it had gotten so ridiculous.

    1. I am just thrilled with all this wonderful sunshine. I hope we have more days like this up ahead. And perhaps we'll be lucky and have an amazing autumn season to make up for a lousy spring and early summer. One can certainly hope!

I am taking before and after pictures of everything we're doing, grout cleaning included!

  12. The Humpty cartoon is a classic. The first three cartoons are my kind of cartoon!

  13. Daisy's mom had pretty much self-invited herself over today. I went to cut the grass and take a shower to avoid talking to her. It's funny how a lot of moms will just always have something negative come out of their mouths.

She offered to let me live at her house when Daisy and I first got married for what I assume would be nothing and no bills either. I paid my mother a considerable amount of dough for my fair share plus more to keep living at my childhood home. I could have been in better shape financially, but it wasn't worth the thought.

For example, in Lao culture, a honeymoon is where the groom and bride live at the bride's parents house for a week right after the wedding. I hated that week with a passion. I was more than ready to go back home.

    1. I personally think that a little distance between families is very important to keep the harmony. And sometimes it's best to have less money but more peace in your life. I'm sorry to hear that about Daisy's mom. It must be really hard on her to hear negativity. Perhaps some boundaries are in order.

  17. These are all so good and I needed a smile today!

If I may be so bold, how do you clean your grout? Are you on your hands and knees with a toothbrush/fingernail brush? Because that's the only way I know and thus I've never done it here! In fairness, the grout is grey, the tiles are grey, and it all just kind of hides any dirt that might be there ...

    1. On hands and knees! And yes, with a toothbrush and whatever other small brushes I have. Our downstairs bathroom is grey like yours and the grout is grey, so everything blends in. But the tile in our upstairs bathroom are a light beige colour and the grout is - or should be - too. Except it wasn't. It was so dirty that it looked black. Totally grossed me out. I've scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed for a couple of days. It's much, much better now. Not perfect but at least it looks the colour it should be. And it's cleaner than it has probably been for yours. I hate this type of cleaning but this really had to get done.

  20. Isn't it wonderful to have friends that you can instantly pick up where you left off even after years of not being together?

I don't envy you the grout cleaning. I did that not long ago and it's one of my least favorite jobs.

    Loved the cartoons. Hilarious!
