Chuckles and Chortles

Happy Monday, everyone. How is everyone doing? How was your weekend? Yesterday I woke up to snow. Now, I'm not a big fan of winter but I do love the first snowfall. It is very special and very exciting and takes me all the way back to my childhood; back when I enjoyed building snow forts and having snowball fights and making snow angels. So each year when I open up my blinds and see that first snowfall, I feel that familiar squeeze in my heart brought on by nostalgia. How is your weather?

And how about some humour? Here we go...

Have a wonderful day!

  1. LOL with the Plato one! How fun with the snow! I agree the first snow of the year is always so magical! Finally cooling off here, actually very pleasant and 3 days of not running the air conditioning; that's a blessing!

  2. Those are really funny, I love your sense of humour...the Moses one killed me. It reminds me of a Mel Brooks movies, can't remember which one, he's Moses and he's carrying 3 tablets...he calls out "God has given you these 15..." then drops one and says..."TEN commandments...". Makes me laugh every time.

Snow! I know how you feel...even though we've had the snow for a week or so now, that magic hasn't worn off yet. I think the magic sticks around until mid January-ish for me, then it gets old and I start the annual winter-complaining lol... Have a great Monday Martha...I can't believe I'm responding to your Monday post on a Monday, usually I'm so late but my day of cooking has given me some free time so I don't have much kitchen work to do! I'm just reading my "Wok With Yan" Chinese Recipes book...I think I might make Chinese food for Christmas...I used to make the traditional meal, but we do that for Thanksgiving...shaking things up lol...

    1. HAHAHA! I remember that Mel Brooks movie. Such silliness.

I think the holiday season does it for me...keeps that magic going. After Christmas, though, I'm done. LOL If the snow would melt the next day, I'd be happy :) As long as it's around for the holidays. Because there have been years when we haven't had snow at all during Christmas and I find it sad. It's really not the same feeling.

That is really cool about Chinese food for Christmas. There is no need to do a traditional meal. Whatever makes you happy, that's the right way to go.

  3. Snow is beautiful in small amounts. Cute comics, I like the lost cat and the anatomy of a child's stomach ( I need to print that out for my niece). Have a great week!

  4. Snow! Something I'll never see again. We got down to 45 last night. I turned on the little space heater in my bathroom. Between that and the dogs, I can keep the bedroom cozy. Now the sun is shining and it's 70 degrees.

    Love,
    Janie

  5. We are expecting high 80's for Thanksgiving, so it will be one of those rare 'wear shorts' Thanksgiving. YAY! :)

  9. Haha love the man purse funny. The weather here is wet, grey and chilly, but not cold enough for snow, thank goodness. Snow is beautiful but no fun if you are driving on icy roads.

    1. For most of the winter our roads are okay to drive on. But there are THOSE days when you're better off staying home.

  13. I haven’t had problems with hot flashes for several months but now they are back. Last night I slept for about 2 hours total. Yeah, bring on Survivor!

I always worry that Norbert might get teased about his name by other cats.

  14. We are headed into summer here in Sydney and about to have our first pool party of the year (and ever) in our new pool! The weather forecast for next weekend keeps changing, fingers crossed for clear and at least warm if not hot.

  15. I know what you mean about the first snowfall being magical. It also makes everything much lighter and brighter, doesn't it? Not so dreary. (And then the snow gets dirty and slushy and a different kind of dreary. Oh well! ha ha) I really think you need to get outside and make a snowman soon, Martha. Don't forget to take pictures!!

    1. The snow really brightens up everything, especially nice since we have less daylight. I've been saying I'll get outside and make a snowman for years...lol Maybe this year I'll make an effort. We shall see.

  18. Hi Martha,

If and when we actually get snow, I shall attempt to make a snow angel. It's actually quite mild up here in middle England. Snow is a rarity.

    I'd rather study Play-Dough! Doh!!!

  19. Hi Martha - off topic, but perhaps you can help.
I've tried to leave a comment on your daughter's blog both her recent post and the one before, but I can't. It's telling me 'invalid security token' whatever that means?
Don't know if she can check it out ...

    Many thanks

    All the best Jan
