Chuckles and Chortles

Happy Monday, bloggers! What's up with everyone? How was the weekend? Did you do anything special? Nothing exciting to report on our end. I've been busy preparing for the Christmas gathering with my family. And I am happy to say that I finished all my holiday baking. This is the last one fresh out of the oven yesterday evening:

Mini pecan pies. Very easy to prepare. Very delicious. We ate two last night because how could we not? The house smelled so good that it was impossible to resist. The remaining treats are now in the freezer. They'll be served on Christmas Day.

How about you? Do you bake? Does someone bake for you? And what kinds of sweets do you particularly enjoy this time of year? Share your thoughts!

And enjoy the funny stuff below while you're here.

Have a great day!

  2. I love the little lady at the end, getting dressed in different wrapping paper. BUT ... I really, really love seeing your bakes. They look yummy and how can you not eat two, or three, or four ...

    1. Believe me it was hard. But I have to have an x amount available for Xmas. That's why as soon as they cool off, into the freezer they go!

  3. You are a fantastic baker, your pecan pies look amazing Martha. We have so many treats around the house right now, gifts and stuff I bought. We have a homemade apple pie in the freezer for Christmas eve, a gift. Thanks for the laughs, love that first one.

  5. Whoa! Pecan pies are the best! Yours look yummy! Sounds like you are definitely in the holiday mood! Yay!

I have a large pile of Amazon boxes stacking up in the entry, and things are still in crisis mode with my parents (Mom is mentally doing a freefall, Dad's Parkinson's is in a race with Mom's mental capacity). So, being an artist and a bit insane, I painted the front bathroom this weekend instead of wrapping gifts, decorating a tree or other responsible things. I self-medicate with brushes, paint and climbing ladders!

Maybe I should have just gone for a tramp stamp like Santa!

    1. There is so much going on with you, Toni, and finding ways to relax and de-stress is important. If painting done it for you, paint away!

    Stay cheery, Martha.

  7. I started to drool at the pies, which then made me spray as I laughed at the cartoons. Now I need to clean my screen.

  8. I'm 78 and the stuff I like best is what Mom made. Mom was a super baker and baked all kinds of stuff on her wood cook stove.

  10. You HAVE to test the baking. Have to. It would be irresponsible to do otherwise :)

They look delicious! And the funnies are excellent. I love the last one.

Those mini pecan look delicious and I can sure understand why you already had some. I've been known to have the occasional mince pie.
