(Holiday) Question Of The Day

You know, I really love Christmas songs, so for me to actually dislike one...well, let me tell you, it really takes a lot. There aren't that many that make me crazy but here's one that feels like a hammer is pounding on my brain:

"Santa Baby" sung by Madonna

ICK!

I was going to share the video but I don't want to contaminate this blog. If you've never heard it and want to, go here. At your own risk. If you actually like this song by Madonna... !!!! wHy?

Your turn. Which Christmas song makes you cringe?

  3. I'm with David Bowie, Little Drummer Boy, was his and is my most disliked Christmas song. That's why in the famous Bing Crosby, David Bowie duet, David sang another much prettier song!

  4. I don't know but the Grinch song about Christmas does not really set well with me. Great question.

  5. I like Santa Baby, the original, by Eartha Kitt, but not Madonna's - it's all in the delivery for me!

I'm not fond of most remakes of classics, especially if the singer adds trills and other verbal gymnastics.

    1. I didn't even know there was an original until I created this post. Eartha Kitt does a much better job with it. Her voice is really lovely. When Madonna sings it, it gets on my nerves. "trills and other verbal gymnastics" HAHAHA That describes it so well!

  6. Bing Crosby I'm dreaming of a white christmas. I REALLY dislike this song sung by anyone really - and I don't quite know why. Even as a child in the 50's I cringed.. But my absolute favorite song sung by just about any artist is O Holy night - i get teary whenever i hear it.

    1. O Holy Night is such a lovely tune. I really like the way Carrie Underwood sings it! Have you heard it? Her voice is amazing.

  9. There is one by Sting on a Christmas album I have, maybe called Jerusalem? Can't remember. I always skip it, so long and boring.

I love most Christmas songs, O Holy Night is great and for contrast Maria Carey's All I Want For Christmas! My daughter's favourite is Little Drummer Boy.

    1. I hadn't heard of that one from Sting so I went to look it up. Not the most appealing, for sure!

  10. I'm the same way, I flippin' love Christmas music but the one song I dislike the most, is Santa Baby only for me, it is Santa Baby sung by ANYONE. Worst. Song. Ever.

    1. It is certainly not a favourite of mine either. Eartha Kitt does a much MUCH better job at it than Madonna but even then, the song is just not my style.

  11. Santa Baby is not a great song for much replay despite the countless covers. I liked Taylor Swift's version of it, one of the more recent covers.

I did listen to the Madonna one, I can see why you hate it.

  13. Paul McCartney's "Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time" - don't know if that is the actual title. It's so sappy. I also cringe when I hear (and see the video of) Bing Crosby and David Bowie - the most awkward duet ever. Oh, and does every artist have to have a Christmas album?? (sorry, rant it over) -Jenn

  14. All I Want For Christmas is My Two Front Teeth sung by anyone. Just awful.

  15. Eventually most Christmas songs will get on my nerves if I hear them too much. I guess anything by the Chipmunks will really DO IT for me and give me a push over the edge!! lol
O Holy Night, however is the only exception.

    1. Those Chipmunk songs will drive anyone batty! But I agree that listening to too many Christmas songs will eventually get to you. I love them but for short periods of time...haha
