You Asked, I Answer (Silly Questions, Favourite Season, Favourite Dessert)

Here we are with another set of answers to your questions.

And we're off...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let’s start with the really important questions:

Adam asked:

Could Jesus microwave a burrito so hot, that he himself could not eat it?

We’ll never know because the burrito would explode before he would get a chance. And he’d have to spend a considerable amount of time cleaning the microwave. Or it’ll catch fire in the microwave and smoke will fill up the kitchen and the fire alarm will go off and the fire department will show up. Either way, it’ll be a holy mess. Burritos can be messy.

(For those who are interested in some really funny responses to this, check out this blog post.)

And he also asked:

Of course it is, Adam. What a silly question. Here’s the proof:

(Incidentally, SpongeBob SquarePants was my younger daughter’s favourite show for a very long time when she was a kid. And she wasn’t alone. We all liked it. In fact, the most amazing man in the world and I would watch it without the kids sometimes. We are still fans.)

Bethany asked a few questions. Here’s one of them:
What is your favorite season?

Spring! Always, always, always spring. It is my favourite season of the year.

New beginnings, awakenings, rebirth, more daylight, warmer days, green grass, birds singing, daffodils and tulips rising, shrubs and trees in bloom, animals building nests for their upcoming young, butterflies and hummingbirds and dragonflies...and oh, the colours!...all the beautiful, glorious things about spring.

Spending more time outdoors on day trips, photo shoots, gardening, hiking, cycling, long walks...things to look forward to this time of year. So much fun and adventure up ahead. Everyone is happier and more energetic.

We say goodbye to snowy days, deep freeze and cloudy skies. We are done with snow banks, blizzards, freezing rain, icy sidewalks, frostbite and flu season. No more coats, ski jackets, snow pants, wool socks, boots, earmuffs, hats, gloves, scarves and mittens. We put away ice scrapers, snow brushes, snow shovels and snow blowers.

I love everything about this time of year. The earth thaws and the world awakens. It is a time of hope and renewal.

Rawknrobyn also asked a few questions. Here's one of them:
Favorite dessert?

Ice cream.

And cheesecake.

Ice cream with cheesecake...oh my...

And let me just say that it can’t be just any kind of cheesecake. I need the traditional, New York style cheesecake with lots of strawberries on it, none of that caramel, chocolate, fudge, lemon or lime type nonsense added in. Just regular, simple cheesecake with a fruit topping. Preferably strawberries or raspberries, but blueberries are good, too. Mmm...mmm...

Favourite ice cream flavours include vanilla, chocolate chip, heavenly hash, chocolate, cookies and cream, butter pecan and cookie dough. Just to name a few.

That's all for this week. Come back next Wednesday for more!

    1. We had a day that was horribly windy! And it included some blowing snow. Thankfully that's all gone and the weather is slightly better, although still a little cold. Enjoy the weekend, Linda!

    1. Of course, I know who he is. I was just referring to the show he was on. Our favourite character was SpongeBob. And Patrick was certainly not on my list of favourites.

  4. I was craving ice cream just last night. Didn't go get any though. No, it wasn't self-control, it was just late in the evening and I was too lazy to go out.

    1. That would do it. I love ice cream but I can be too lazy to go get it, too. And I never keep any in the house because I don't need those calories!

  5. I hadn't run into the Jesus/burrito meme before - that is quite the funny link! And now I have the strange urge to go play with some food. Not mayo ... perhaps peanut butter ...

Your enthusiasm for spring is completely warranted, in my opinion :)

    1. Spring is a season that warrants a lot of enthusiasm!

I wonder what types of sounds you can make with peanut butter. Perhaps you'll video tape your experiences and share it with us :) No pressure :)

  6. Ha! Great answers Martha :) I am making ice cream today, despite the snow storm outside, I'm rebelling!! I got the ice cream maker out and it'll be a nice vanilla ice cream that we can shiver to after dinner. Anything chocolate and I MUST beg to differ about your cheesecake choices...caramel, chocolate, lemon BRING IT ON!!! :) I do love the traditional New York style with lots of cherries on top too! Graham cracker crust is a must as well! :)

    1. Rebel away, Rain! LOL Winter is sticking around much too long. I am tired of it. I want lots of sunshine and warm days. Where are they? We are actually going to have some snow today. And it's not the first time this week. It hasn't been sticking around but still. Snow in April is cruel.

Making ice cream is fun! And it's a treat that can and should be enjoy year round. I used to have an ice cream maker when my older daughter was little and she and had fun using it. It wasn't a high quality one and eventually I donated it.

And don't kid yourself...if the New York style of cheesecake is not an option, I wouldn't refuse some of the other types! :)

  9. I agree with you on the ice cream. I started on home made ice cream before freezers were around to keep it frozen. It was sooo good.

  10. Real cheesecake is a must. I remember at most "gatherings" when I was a kid, someone would bring what I call 'church lady cheesecake' which was some sort of graham cracker crust, cream cheese mixed with cool whip, topped with an upturned large can of cherry pie filling. Oh, how I hated that stuff. But real cheesecake... there's no comparison!! -Jenn

    1. I totally agree, Jenn! There certainly is a 'real' cheesecake. The rest fall into a separate category no matter how good they are.

  12. I enjoyed your answers - and I particularly enjoyed when you mentioned "blueberries". It served a purpose today and all i could say was "Bingo"....(wink)... I'll tell you some day. When i was pregnant with my second son I craved Sara Lee Strawberry Cheesecake - I could eat the whole thing in a night (the smaller one)...
