Chuckles and Chortles

Happy Monday to all. How was your weekend? Did you do anything special or interesting? We went for our first bike ride yesterday and it was great. I had forgotten how much fun it is. And what a terrific workout you get, too.

As you know, we are taking care of my daughter's cat Obi while she and her boyfriend travel in Southeast Asia this month. Yesterday was one week since we brought Obi home with us and within that short period she and our two cats have adapted wonderfully. Cats can make a big stink with new additions or changes, so I'm very grateful for the smooth transition and the peace in our home.

Speaking of my daughter, before she left, I asked her what she looked forward to on her trip and she said one thing she was excited about was seeing the elephants. And then I saw this:

When I saw this image that I stole borrowed from her Instagram page to share with you, it made me so happy that I shed a few tears. I am such a sap! And very excited that she is experiencing these joyful adventures.

Now let's get to the funny stuff.

Have a good one!

    1. This is the time for that. Once she finishes school settles into a full time job, she won't have as much freedom as she does now.

Thanks for the funnies; I'll admit I laughed out loud at the shoplifters one :)

  7. Hi Martha, I’ve had a quiet day on a scorching hot day. I have to drink several drinks every day just to stay alive. Several is a long time drinking. I hope I can do it. Even though I can’t talk I enjoy visits.it’s a crazy life to live but someone’s got to do it. I like to read. It’s the thing I do best. I can forget about everything for a short while. The only thing is that every day is the same. I’ve had it for over five years now. I just wonder how much longer i’ll be like this?

    1. Reading is one of my favourite things to do. It's a wonderful way to forget about everything else in your life and escape for a little bit. I'm glad you enjoy that. If I lived closer, I'd drop by and visit you!

  9. Okay, you sniffled ...not shed tears. As a male I can admit that I sniffle. However, when My daughter was in Thailand the earthquake and tsunami happened. I was terrified for about 20 min when i got an email saying that she was safe.

    1. That is definitely terrifying! I try not to think about stuff like that. We can't control these things, so it's best to just live our lives and hope for the best!

    1. You are right, Baili! We miss our kids but we are very happy seeing them living their lives. They are like little birds. They need to leave the nest and go out into the world and explore it. It is hard when they leave but it is important! My daughter is having a wonderful time in Southeast Asia and I'm so happy for her!

  16. Ha ha ha ha...I love that Noah cartoon! Too funny! :))) Oh your Alex is having a blast, what a great photo! I need to find her on Instagram so I don't miss out. I really miss bike riding. It's been a while since I rode my bike, maybe a few summers. It's just a long way to the bike path and it's not safe to bike on the roads around here. I'm glad you got out! Do you have the first bike ride of the season butt pain going on lol? ;)

    1. She is having an amazing time! This is such an interesting trip; one she'll never forget. She loves traveling and I hope she continues to explore the world.

Surprisingly enough, I didn't have any butt pain this year! We bought some pretty decent seats for our bikes a few years ago and since then, it's been easier to sit on them. But I did have palm pain, which happens sometimes. I'm going to have to get some gloves to help with that.

  20. Bike riding. Something I enjoy doing when on vacation, specifically when at Hilton Head, they have over 50+ miles of paths. I like riding but don't feel comfortable riding out in traffic and around here, not enough sidewalks to take you anywhere. I can ride to the grocery and put things in my basket, which is nice; but currently need a new tire. Must get the bike out of the shed and get it ready for the season again...well once I can get out of my orthopedic boot that is. Enjoyed the funnies.

    1. 50+ miles of paths! Now that is amazing. When I lived in the big city, I never rode a bike. It was stressful being on busy roads. Since we moved from there, we've had a blast cycling in our own area and the surroundings ones.
