This Week

Another Friday is here! How are you all doing? And how has the week been treating you?

I woke up to the most amazing weather. It is sunny and cool, a perfect autumn day. I am so grateful for this, especially after the terribly hot and humid summer we just went through. I hope this perfect weather continues far into this season because I’m not looking forward to the winter!

Yesterday was also a gorgeous day and we decided to spend it in Ottawa, which is about an hour from our home. We visit our nation’s capital from time to time because younger daughter lives, works and studies there. But she’s in New Zealand until the beginning of November as an exchange student, so it was just a regular road trip for us empty nesters. I tell you, it’s a tough life having grownup kids and doing whatever you like whenever you like. *snort*

Remember the kitten we adopted from the local shelter in January? The one we named Kazee? Well, she’s a big girl now. Here she is all pissy –looking after being disturbed from a nap for this photo:

Kazee has grown into the most amazing cat. She’s highly sociable, very affectionate, comes when you call her, talks up a storm, sometimes plays fetch like a dog and exercises (demands) her rights as a member of this family. She is mischievous and highly energetic and keeps us on our toes. I tell you, it’s like having a three year old in the house. It is fun!

And here’s our older cat, Mocha, demanding equal time in front of the camera. And just as pissy-looking. She was taking a bath while basking in the sun and I disturbed her:

Don’t you just love how expressive cats can be? Those looks of disdain are top notch. Although I might have to sleep with one eye open tonight.

I have about a million more things to say but I won't say them. Instead, I'm going to stop here and wish you all a wonderful weekend!

  3. Martha girl . yes I am "lurking" yet again .. I check in on you without leaving a comment most times .. but the point is I am thinking of you ? LOL .. I have to stop this time because of your cat kids .. Kazee looks so much like my Molly did .. and it sounds like she is so much like her in character too, I would say VERY strongly that Kazee has some Siamese in her mix because of those characteristics (my Molly did .. and that face ? so much like her it is a bit unnerving in fact .. has my little girl reincarnated to your little girl I wonder ? .. if so she has found the best possible home : )
Mocha .. is sweet even in almost pissy mood ? .. and yes .. sleep with the covers up to your nose girl .. they are coming for you ! LOL
    Joy : )

    1. Hey Joy! It is so nice to hear from you. And it is even nicer that you think about me. I think about you all the time! And I also pop into your blog quietly, find out what's going on and quietly leave. HAHA So we are both lurking :)

Kazee is just the most amazing little cat. And if she is a lot like Molly...well...you just never know, do you? :) Whatever little soul is in there, you can be sure that we are taking great care of her. She is even a little spoiled. But you didn't hear that from me...haha This sweet little furball actually chose us. She made quite a lot of noise when we got near her at the shelter and she made sure she had our attention. There was no way we were leaving that day without adopting her. She was on a mission! And, lo and behold, here we are today. It was really meant to be.

Yes, it's possible she has Siamese in her being the chatterbox that she is. The black cat that we lost in September was the same. Talked up a storm, and she had a lot of physical features similar to a Siamese. And just as much attitude, too!

  12. I learned over the years to let cats rule. Easier that way.
Thanks for sending the cooler weather this way to Nova Scotia, Martha. I hear it will be here tomorrow.
    Have the best weekend!

    1. That's the best way with cats, Jim. No use putting up resistance because they'll end up ruling anyway :)

This cooler weather is VERY welcome. I'm so glad it's here :) Enjoy

  14. Lovely to see your kitties again! It's funny how most cats do look like that, especially in photographs. Our weather has cooled off, too, but too fast. We went from summer to cold fall in just a few days! But I'd still rather the cool weather than the extreme heat. I try not to complain about the cold, saving up all my strength to complain about the heat instead - lol

    1. HAHAHA! And a lot of energy is needed when the summer is as bad as the one we just went through. Let's hope our winter is not one of those terribly cold ones with an abundance of snow. Or it will be a very long one!

  17. Oh look at poor Kazee Martha !

    how cutely looking annoyed lol

this is still a fear for me to be a empty nester though yet sometimes only one thought makes me little relief that i will be free to do what I WANT TO DO

My heart still loves winter but my body hate when my joints crack and head seem like heavy rock on my shoulder

    1. It can be sad sometimes, Baili, but I am actually enjoying being an empty nester. Sometimes I miss those very early years with my children but we are at a new and exciting stage. It is fun getting together with my daughters as adults.
