Chuckles and Chortles

Happy Monday, blogging pals! How was your weekend? Was it busy? Quiet? Hectic? Peaceful? Did you go out? Stay in? Watch movies? Read books? Visit friends or family? Share below. Inquiring minds want to know!

Our weekend was a busy one. Saturday we went to a Christmas party where we had dinner and where the most amazing man in the world and his band played live on stage afterwards. I spent the evening chatting with a lovely woman who not only happens to be the wife of one of the band members, but also a neighbour who lives across the street. It was a fun-filled evening and the band put on an incredible performance.

Yesterday I got together with a bunch of friends at the local metaphysical store. We've created a group and get together just about every Sunday afternoon where we talk about the most interesting subjects. The most amazing man in the world often attends but yesterday he was wiped out from Saturday night, so he decided to stay home. Anyhow, this week we had a potluck to celebrate the holiday season. It was a lot of fun and I'm very grateful for all these people!

And that's that. Let's get to the funny stuff!

Have a great day ahead!

  1. Your metaphysical group sounds so intriguing, Martha! I've belonged to such groups in the past and they are usually full of unique and interesting people.

Love ALL the cartoons and they are all so TRUE!

    1. It started innocently by a visit to pick up a few crystals. LOL Next thing I knew, I'm connected on Facebook with the owner of the shop and joining a group that meets just about every week. We've also connected with one another on Facebook individually and through a private group. I LOVE this group. We are an eclectic bunch and we talk about the most interesting things you can imagine! Men, women, younger, old(er)...we're all there together.

  3. I agree, the metaphysical group sounds cool. Those were some good funnies, though "The Twelve Days of Christmas" has been forever altered in my brain from listening to the Bob and Doug Mackenzie version all these years...five golden TOQUES...lol (https://youtu.be/1DTwLqR071M)

The weekend was nice and quiet. Did lots of baking and preserving! We have the landlord coming over tomorrow to fix a broken heater. But otherwise, this week ahead is all about Christmas fun! Some crafts, baking, planning...and trying to secretly make Italian Torrone (nougat) for Alex's stocking! :)

The version from Bob and Doug McKenzie is hilarious. I'd forgotten about it. Thanks for sharing the link!

Sounds like a great week for you. Enjoy!

  5. Your weekend sounds good.
As ours was so wet and windy, we did a few things in and around the house, but I still need to wrap some Christmas presents!

Loved all of the funnies, a great start to the week.

    All the best Jan

  6. Good chuckles!

Metaphysical group. I participated in one for several years and it was amazing. Three of us actually opened up the only Metaphysical Library in Northern California. That, too, was lots of fun and we met some very illuminating and interesting people. Closed the library a couple of years ago, sad!

  8. That first picture is awesome. I feel relieved just looking at it -- takes all the stress re Xmas away, knowing that the cat is going to take care of business.
    Have a great week, Martha.

  11. Hi Martha! You had a weekend where you did something fun and something inspiring. What a great balance! I ran around trying to finish Christmas shopping, did a bit more baking, cleaned windows (!), then collapsed for a while. -Jenn

  15. First off i love all the cartoons. And wow, you made me almost tear up when you mentioned friends and metaphysical bookdstore. I use to ALWAYS visit these type of bookstores if they were within a 60 mile range and most often would go with my sister. We would buy our books, have fun driving and singing along to whatever was on the radio and then go out for dinner before coming home. I still to this day have most of the hundreds of books I thought over the span of thirty years. I haven't been to a bookstore in about 10 years and I miss it so much. But every day I go through one or two of my bookcase full of books. Sounds like you had a great time.

    1. Sounds like such a great time, Sandy. This store doesn't only sell books; that's just a small part of the business. The majority of the business is in services and every product you can imagine for whatever practice you follow or prefer. It is such a beautiful shop run by amazing people. The group is an extension of the business.

    2. it sounds great! wish I could join you. My best friend died in 2010 and daily we would talk on the phone and share our experiences and insights and ah ha moments. I remember the first set of books that really got us excited was Llife and Teachings of the Masters of the Far East - .. Whether these were actual experiences in the author's life is up for one's own interpretation I believe but it really changed me in a lot of ways. It's a six volume set and you may have heard of it.

    3. If you were closer, I'd invite you to come and join us. I think you would really love this group of eclectic people with all kinds of different beliefs and ideas. It's so much fun. I'm so sorry about your friend. That is very sad.

LOL with the lyrics to the 12 days of Christmas. That is about right these days!
