It's funny because when my kids were very young and I had about a bazillion gifts to give that would take a lifetime to wrap, I wrapped all of them. And very nicely, too, with ribbons and bows and pretty paper. Now that we're empty nesters and gift giving is down to a handful of people and should take no time at all to wrap, I use gift bags instead.
Do you prefer one over the other? Or do you do both?
Your story is my story, Martha. I've basically deserted wrapping gifts these days in favour of the oh-so-quick-and-handy gift bags.
ReplyDeleteSo much easier!
DeleteDaisy is in charge of wrapping, I'm not good at it. If I have to do it, it'll be a gift bag.
ReplyDeleteGift wrapping gets easier with practice but gift bags are a lot easier!
DeleteI'm not good with gift bags, LOL. I can never figure out how to do the tissue paper (even my son can do it better than me, LOL). I prefer wrapping them myself though I'm always losing the tape and the scissors, etc. :)
ReplyDeletebetty
That tissue paper can be a real pain in the behind, Betty! Most of the time I poke holes in it or it rips as I'm handling it LOL
DeleteI do a bit of both, depending on the gift and the recipient.
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense!
Deletemostly gift bags but I love wrapping too. I am even doing a couple of gift baskets.
ReplyDeleteGift baskets are fun! I've done it in the past and really enjoyed the whole process.
DeleteWell, I did wrap presents a long time ago. there were no other options.
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense. Now there are a lot!
DeleteI love wrapping presents! I wish I had more things to wrap. And I have a stack the size of a car in the wardrobe already.
ReplyDeleteYou can wrap all of mine, Natalie! LOL
DeleteI have always preferred wrapping. But I'm tired of it, AND everyone wants only gift cards, so I'm going to do gift bags instead.
ReplyDeleteI prefer wrapping, too. I just don't always feel like doing it!
DeleteI do a bit of both. Usually it depends on the size. If it is big and awkward, it goes in a gift bag with some tissue paper. I don't bother with all the bows anymore, though. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteThat is true, Jenn. Those awkward gifts definitely belong in a gift bag. You couldn't do otherwise!
DeleteI don't mind it, but I'm not good at it. Plus, I don't like buying wrapping paper. It's too pricey, and you only get a few gift wrapped per roll. So gift bags, it is.
ReplyDeleteSo true, Robyn. It can get very expensive. I like wrapped gifts but as I get older, I just don't feel like doing it.
DeleteI prefer to wrap them, plus I've always preferred my gifts wrapped, for I've found it more exciting that way when it came time for me to open them.
ReplyDeleteIt is more fun that way, Lon. I'll agree with that!
DeleteBack in the day we wrapped everything and it took hours! But, we loved doing it.
ReplyDeleteToday it's a little of both with a lean towards the bags.
I was the same way, Jim. I used to love it. I think I've wrapped one too many gifts in my life and it's become a little tiring! LOL
DeleteI prefer to wrap them, but usually I am too busy so go with a gift bag! I have 2 little great grandchildren and so I do wrap for them. They like tearing the paper more than the gift sometimes! LOL!
ReplyDeleteWrapping is a lot more fun with kids! They really enjoy opening gifts. If I had young grandchildren, I would definitely wrap for them :)
DeleteI love to wrap presents to make them look nice but I'm usually short on time so use gift bags. The drawback to gift bags (for me) is that we save them to reuse but I can never find the right size and graphic among the old ones for the gift I have in hand! Which makes me think I should have bought all plain ones to start with, instead of those with personal appeal :)
ReplyDeleteHAHA! I laughed because I end up with the same problem with the bags. I have a whole bunch of Easter bags that I have no use for anymore. I'll have to recycle them or give them to thrift stores for someone else to use.
DeleteI've done both and like them both but ... If say, I could only do one or the other from now until the end of time, then I'd go with wrapping.
ReplyDeleteCool beans. I'd choose wrapping, too, if someone else did most of it :)
DeleteI love wrapping gifts and then putting them in gift bags too. So both!
ReplyDeleteAnd you do an amazing job with the wrapping!
DeleteI use both. If it is easy to wrap, I wrap. Otherwise, I stuff it into a bag. :)
ReplyDeleteMakes perfect sense!
DeleteOh I so enjoyed wrapping gifts in past when energy was on peak
ReplyDeleteBut now batteries are low so decent plus fancy bags are preferred
I do think that wrapped gifts can be much nicer, especially if the paper is really pretty, but I find it so much easier to use bags!
