Chuckles and Chortles

Happy Monday, friends! How are you all doing? How was the weekend? For those who celebrated, how was Mother's Day? I didn't celebrate with my kids yesterday but the most amazing man in the world and I did have a potluck get-together with some friends, which was lots of fun. I did visit with my younger daughter earlier in the week when I drove up to Ottawa to see her. We went out for lunch, did some shopping and stopped for a quick coffee at a tiny little café before I dropped her off at her place. It was a wonderful time. Even the weather was amazing.

What wasn't amazing was my inability to find my way out of the city to head home. We have a portable GPS that I plug into the car and the problem with that is that, unlike the app my daughter uses on her phone, our 'outdated' system has no clue about construction zones, soooo...my 'brilliant' GPS, which we've named Madge, kept trying to get me to turn on blocked roads. And let me tell you, it seemed like the whole darn city was under construction. On top of that, I had to deal with some crazy-ass traffic as I was being held hostage. Finally, after 30 minutes of going around in circles in an unfamiliar city, I decided to figure it out on my own. Well, despite the fact that I typically have absolutely no sense of direction, I did manage to make my way out of that crazy maze. All worth it, though, for the time spent with my daughter!

Hey, any of you watching anything interesting lately on Netflix? We recently started Breaking Bad and we are really enjoying it. I had it on my list for ages and wasn't sure whether it was worth it or not. I am so glad we decided to give it a go. And right before this series, we watched The Crown. Any of you seen it? It is awesome, especially the acting. That's another series we were hesitant about that turned out to be a great choice. Anyhow, two shows I recommend for those who have Netflix.

Now it's time for some funny stuff, right? Let's do it.

Have a great week ahead!

    1. Right? Maybe it does it on purpose, just to mess with us :)

  3. I sometimes wonder if some of the days like Mother's day are hyped too much. Many Moms are separated from their kids and never get a chance to celebrate with them . With us being a very mobile society it will get worse. So I'm shedding tears for myself. My daughter is in Chicago and my son is on the west coast.

    1. I certainly think they are. It feels more like a commercial holiday than anything else.

  5. I LOVE the cats on Noah's Ark!! The stork delivery was pretty funny, too :)

I wonder if some of the blocked areas in Ottawa were from the flooding? Anyway, I feel your pain even though I've never actually driven in a big city. Little cities and towns are more than I can handle most days :)

    1. It wasn't from flooding where I was, just from typical ongoing construction! Seems like it's everywhere around the areas I was visiting, especially where my daughter lives. Streets that I needed to travel on, according to my GPS, were blocked and I was trapped there. LOL

  6. LOL with the dog in the courtroom! Sounds like fun with your daughter except for getting out of town so to speak, but good for you for getting out of there on your own! I did watch "The Crown" on Netflix and enjoyed it immensely. I'm still on my Netflix holiday so I haven't looked into binging on anything lately. I'll have to check out the one you mentioned.

    1. I actually really enjoy driving to other areas completely on my own. It's a good way to practice my driving skills, especially now that I live in such a small area. I really like highway driving but I can't say I like city driving. Still, it is good practice for me.

now days we are watching Spartacus which is powerful presentation indeed

    1. Oh, Spartacus! That is something I'd be curious about. I'll have to check it out.

Spending time with my daughter is always a joy, so I'll put up with the traffic to do so!

  8. We used to blame our previous dog, Jessie, for those strange odours!! But with Sophie, who doesn't emit odours at all (seriously) I blame RON all the time!!
I think GPS would be so confusing to me as I have never used it. But will probably be willing to try it out if I was in a jam.
    Have a great week, Martha.

    1. I actually really like GPS...most of the time :) I think the apps on phones are probably much better than what I have, but I don't have a data plan on my phone. But even so, our GPS is more often than not extremely useful.

  9. Hee hee hee...that last one is great!!! :)
Omg, city traffic...that would have driven me nuts. Honestly I don't rely on any GPS anymore, not even Google Maps. I find they really take you out of your way. I just look up maps and write down my directions, old school! :)
Alex downloaded the entire Frasier series so we've been watching that lately, they are so much funnier than I remembered!

    1. I typically don't mind driving in Ottawa. Despite it being a large city, the drive is quite pleasant....when there's no construction! I much prefer it to driving in Montreal. Quebec drivers are ruder and certainly more aggressive.

  11. Glad you found your way out of the city. It seems like there is a lot of construction this time of year. Great comics- especially Noah's wife with the cats :) Have a wonderful week! XO

    1. Oh, I like that name! Good choice for a GPS. You should try out the phone GPS. I find it's much more accurate and it takes construction into consideration.

  15. These are GREAT, Martha! Kudos to you for finding your way out of a city maze. We don't have Netflix, although that's one service I'd like to get. I hate that this Sunday is the last episode of Game of Thrones. How I've loved that series! Wishing you warm spring sunshine tomorrow!

  18. seems I'm late to the party - has it been that long since I've been here - ..anyway love the funnies. Your talking about the city and all the construction...reminded me of when we visit Seattle almost once a year we notice that there seems to be cranes on almost every street helping to construct new high rises. It's amazing. And glad u found your way out and still aren't driving around the city, lol. Anyway i loved Breaking Bad ..loved it!! Saw it about ayear ago and binged my way through it.. Loved the Crown and after Breaking Bad I tried Sons of Anarchy and loved that also. Obviously I am a lover of binge-ing...it's like one long movie. Hope u have a wonderful week ahead with lots of fun in the sun or if not enjoy the rain - we are getting rain tomorrow and our highest mountain in my area could get snow tonight.

    1. It took us quite some time to get to Breaking Bad and I'm glad we finally did! What an awesome series. Never thought I could get into that, what with all the drug stuff, but the acting is great and so is the story. We're only about halfway through season 2 but I'm guessing we'll wrap it up pretty quickly. It was the same with the Crown. We zipped right through it. What an amazing series with such great acting. There is another season coming up, which I'm looking forward to. The actors are changing, and I hope they are just as good! Still kind of cool and damp here. Spring has not really sprung and we're already into the second half of may...*sigh*... Well, it does beat having snow.
