Happy new week, friends! How is everything going for you? I hope you're all well. And I hope you all had a really nice weekend. Ours was rather quiet. We'd due for a day trip to Montreal or Ottawa. Or someplace else. I really enjoy getting out and about this time of year to soak in the holiday energy and decorations. Makes the cold and snow and less daylight more tolerable.
What do you like - or not like - about this time of year? Do share your thoughts in the comments. I'd love to hear all about it.
Nothing else to say for now, so let's get right to it. Enjoy and have a great week ahead!
Thanks for the laughs Martha! The holiday season is here, time to start getting ready.
ReplyDeleteAin't that the truth, Christine! The holidays will be here before we know it.
DeleteThank you for the Monday Morning laughs, Martha.
ReplyDeleteI'm still on the end of this infection so we stayed in.
But it was a sunny lovely winter weekend.
I'm digging it being darker earlier. So much night to left.
Even got to work in my kitchen both days. Was nice.
That's about all on my end. Here's to a groovy week!
Hope you're feeling MUCH better now. We had a lot of rain recently and most of the snow is melted. Now it's slushy and dirty. I think I prefer the snow :)
DeleteAlways fun to start my week here, and I'm glad to not have a cat.
ReplyDeleteEven in CA, we have beautiful, multi-colored leaves all over as a reminder that it's Fall. Yay.
I bet your leaves last longer than ours. We have winter scenes now!
DeleteLOL with all, but especially the birds one :) I too wouldn't be going outside! I love this time of year because it cools down in a good way :)
ReplyDeletebetty
We should meet halfway with our weather, Betty. It would warm up for us and cool off for you :)
DeleteYou always find the funniest cat comics. :) I love everything about this time of year, especially the cooler weather. Have a wonderful week. XO
ReplyDeleteCat comics are always my favourite. It takes a lot of self restraint to keep from sharing ONLY cat comics some weeks :)
DeleteLove the funnies, Martha - especially the birds and the cats. The kitty in the last picture is so sweet.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the reduced daylight this time of year, or wearing three layers of everything, but I'll take this over the summer heat ANYTIME! And I have to confess I love Christmas music of all kinds. I'm always sad when it's over for another year. That being said, I don't work in a retail environment where I'd have to listen to it non-stop day after day. I only hear it on the radio, which is under my control, or in the mall, where it puts me in a good mood :)
I don't like that extreme summer heat either. I wish it could be spring and early autumn for most of the year. That would be ideal for me!
DeleteCats! Gotta love 'em!
ReplyDeleteAbsolute best!
DeleteTatoo guy is like "it was meant to be ironic!"
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be funny? :)
DeleteI don't like the mess of snow rain and freezing cycles. Just give me freezing and snow.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree. I prefer when it's at least consistent.
DeleteI like November because you get to wear your cozy clothes. (That's all I have - November's actually kind of an icky cold, damp month). Really like the cat ones you posted! -Jenn
ReplyDeleteNot much to love about November, unless it's a beautiful fall season that stretches into this month. Or else, it's just icky :)
DeleteOr to summarize, apparently -- animals suck.
ReplyDeleteI rather like this time of year because I'm still relishing the fact that the ghastly heat and glare of the summer are gone. We get a lot of fog and mist here in the mornings. And the stores haven't yet started playing Christmas carols -- you know, those godawful versions where the singing doesn't synchronize properly with the music. It's cool, but not cold enough to get icy.
It's just too bad Halloween is already over.
I'm okay with November when freezing cold and tons of snow is not in the equation. We already have long enough winters. I certainly don't want more of that!
DeleteAs always, you find the best funnies, Martha! I hope you get some away time soon. I love curling up by my fireplace and reading this time of year. Driving on icy roads ~ Ugh!!!
ReplyDeleteThe driving part...UGH, indeed! I've had my fair share of experience driving in horrible weather. Not fun at all!
DeleteI love chuckles wow girl I love winter xox
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed! You are not the first person I've heard say they love winter. My favourite season is spring.
DeleteThat's right! Don't NEVER skip those English classes!!! lol
ReplyDeleteThe older I get the more I settle into this time of year. I just hope Canada will, as a whole, stop changing the time. Let's stick with Standard Time and be done with it. There you go. Have a good week, Martha.
I totally agree, Jim! I wish we'd stop changing the time. We are way overdue for that!
DeleteThe cat ruining dinner, hahaha. I love the smells this time of year. I've been gathering leaves and birnging them home and i love how they smell - and so different from each leaf from a different tree. I love the weather (minus the wind) and the leaves blowing and scattering about - (just a little breeze is okay) and I love the way the light comes in at a certain angle this time of year. I don't necessarily love Christmas anymore - it's not that meaningful as it was when the kids were little. But I do like to see decorations.
ReplyDeleteCat...hahaha...always getting into mischief :)
DeleteI imagine your winter is much more tolerable than ours. I don't mind winter as much as I mind the cold.
Martha, you know that latest picture of Donald Trump getting angry and pointing, well wouldn`t it have been hilarious if someone had put a cartoon bubble caption on it with him shouting at the top of his voice: "I desperately want the incredible 17 year-old Pauline Hickey from 1985, and i want her now, do you hear me, RIGHT NOW ! ! !". I`m sure you`ll agree that would`ve been a laugh riot for everyone who saw it ! ! !.
ReplyDeleteI don't spend much time thinking about Donald Trump. Or any type of politics. I'm much happier that way :)
DeleteI enjoy visiting our local garden centres at this time of year. They have indoor displays which always look so cheerful, and many of them have a café where you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee :)
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for the chuckles.
All the best Jan
That sounds really lovely, Jan! I would enjoy something like that.
DeleteWeekends are only going well
ReplyDeleteI hope you are enjoying a nice weekend!
Deletei love visiting parks this time of the year dear Martha ,so glad you enjoyed your trip with family:)
ReplyDeletehaha ,i so enjoy your chuckles specially about cats ,they always make me laugh for while
wishing you more pleasures ahead each moment my dear friend !
I'm so glad you enjoy! Happy weekend to you, sweet friend. xo
DeleteFunnies! I love them :) Oh well, this time of year, I AVOID going out as much as possible. I wouldn't be caught near Montreal lol...you are braver. I have the dentist on Thursday (dangit, chipped another tooth, my teeth are like chalk...), then one more big shopping day in December for the monthly meals...then we get our tree on the 10th (it's our tradition)...then hibernation until the new year!!! I'm in the midst of planning out the next few months! :)
ReplyDeleteI can totally zone out even in large groups, Rain! LOL Thank goodness, because I enjoy the city vibe. I go nuts if I spend too much time isolated. So I visit those big, busy, crazy places, get my fill of them and go home. Then I'm good for a little while. Thank goodness for the holidays or else this time of year would be a real drag. I tolerate the cold less and less each year. I would easily spend a few months south somewhere if we could afford it!
DeleteA yard full of starlings? I'm out the door making as much noise as I can hoping they'll go somewhere else. When they come through my area they hang around for about two weeks before moving on. I make sure my car is not outside during that time.
ReplyDeleteThey arrive in large amounts, for sure!
DeleteI love the twins come backs and the rat with the mixing bowl lives in my nightmares!
