Chuckles and Chortles

A new week begins, blogging pals! They seem to just zip right by, don't they? Anything new and exciting happen in the past seven days? I don't have much to report from our end unless you count the freezing rain we had over the weekend. Have you ever had to deal with freezing rain? It is not fun, especially if you have to drive in it. I've done that in the past and it's a nightmare.

Have you been watching anything interesting? Right now we're zipping through Grace and Frankie on Netflix. It took awhile before we considered watching this series but I'm so glad we finally decided to give it a try. It's quite enjoyable. And we just wrapped up the movies 'The Godfather' and 'The Godfather Part II'. Again. We've watched both...I don't know how many times. They just never get old. It's so surreal to see Al Pacino and Robert De Niro so...young. But then I remember that these movies are almost 50 years old!

And that's that. Now let's laugh!

Wishing you all a great day and a great week ahead!

  1. I won't drive on the ice after freezing rain (or even try to walk on it -- slipped and gotten hurt too many times). Last time I tried it my car got rammed by another car that skidded. It's just not worth it.

That parrot is very patient and tolerant.

I wonder if there is a separate Canadian badger -- more furry for the cold climate, but one-fifth of its genes are from the French badger.

    1. Totally with you on the ice. I've done it and it was a nightmare. Thankfully nothing bad ever happened!

  2. Oh yes, the freezing rain! It's been keeping me in more than usual. My husband gave me a Roku for our basement TV and I've been catching up on movies and old series. I am watching the PBS "Corfus" as I missed the first 3 seasons! Also found the old "Felicity" series which I watched occasionally back in the late 90's. As you said, funny to watch some of these characters who are now middle-aged. I really enjoyed your comics today, especially number 1 and number 3, and of course the cat ones are always a hoot! Thanks again for the chuckles!

    1. It's fun watching some old movies and series. Some of them are quite outdated compared to what's out there now, but they bring back some fond memories!

  3. Never liked freezing rain when we lived in Montana! Never liked driving on ice afterwards! Oh my gosh, such funny ones this week! I loved the "demanding" hubby. I do agree with the wife. The funeral director seems an appropriate response :)

  4. We get freezing rain all the time. This past Saturday was just plain ol' rain. It poured. I finished all of Grace & Frankie already. You can't really go wrong with The Godfather, although I think I had to watch it three or four times before I understood everything Marlon Brando was saying, lol. Great funnies. The funeral one and Keith Richards were my faves.

    1. It sounds like Marlon Brando has marbles in his mouth! HAHA You really have to listen closely. Or at least put the volume up!

  8. Oh so funny! Thank you so much, Martha :)

Freezing rain makes me stay home. I've driven on ice a couple of times to get home from wherever I've been, and it's hair-raising. It's more like sledding than driving ... with no steering capability ... Stay safe, you guys!

    1. I know, right? I'd rather drive through a blizzard than freezing rain! Although given a choice, I don't want either! LOL

  12. Actually "chortled" out loud about the cat at the bathroom door. We had a cat we called "Nelly the Bathroom Cat". You simply weren't allowed to be in that room without her. -Jenn

    1. Chortling out loud is the best! It's a nice hearty laugh. HAHA

Nelly sounds fun. My two wait outside the bathroom door. When they feel I've had enough time, they start to scratch. Loudly. I'm surprised they haven't shredded the door. Yet.

    1. You have zero control with freezing rain. I think that's really scary! Best to stay indoors on days like that.

  15. Also check out the difference between the cute Australian possum (like a arboreal bunny with soft brown fur) and the scary American (o)possum that looks like a mangy grey rat of unusual size.

    1. Thank you, Baili! I hope you've had a lovely week. No need to feel bad about the rain. Every place has its difficulties. Our winter rain can be dangerous...but only if it freezes!

  17. chuckles were great! Freezing rain - and dense fog, snow, all the things I don't like to drive in - but i love when Mike drives in thick fog, it's so pretty.

grace and frankie - i tried the first two or three and enjoyed it but when the old girls started talking all the time about sex and "machinery" so to speak - it got old so i quit it. I'm not a prude at all but just didn't enjoy it, lol for some reason i'm not binge-ing on anything new right now - instead I am so totally enjoying all 12 seasons of "Cheers" which i forgot how good the writers were. I still watch other things but cheers is my go to right now.

    1. It felt like the series was too focused on that for a while but it tapered off. There is much more energy put on other subjects. We're starting season 5 soon and it's really enjoyable.

    2. i've been thinking of going back to it since i've missed the last two seasons ..
