Chuckles and Chortles

Happy new week, friends! How are you? What's going on? Nothing much on our end. Lots of snow, snow, snow around here. We are up to our eyeballs in it. Can't wait till spring!

You know what movie we watched a few days ago that I've been meaning to watch for many, many years? Fried Green Tomatoes.  It goes way back to 1991 but for some reason I never got around to it. It's available on Netflix, so we gave it a go. And really enjoyed it! I can't believe I waited this long.

We also watched El Camino; the epilogue to the television series Breaking Bad. I was hesitant about it but since the most amazing man in the world was cool about Fried Green Tomatoes (my choice), I agreed to this (his choice). It's a give and take, right? Anyhow, I was surprised just how much I liked it.

I mentioned we were wrapping up Grace and Frankie, which we did. We had fun it but we were ready for something new. We tried Supergirl, but after watching three episodes, we decided...um...no. It felt like torture sitting through it. Off we went to The Kaminsky Method. It looks very promising but it's been put on hold because season 4 of Better Call Saul became available! And that's where we're at now.

What are you watching or reading these days? And while you think about that, I'll post the funny stuff below. Give and take, right? Enjoy! And have a wonderful day ahead.

  1. Martha, thanks so much for the laughs. You got me with a couple of these. Love the kindergarten drawing of a car, and the insurance accident drawing. Great stuff.

  3. LOL with the doctors and their handwriting! Too cute too with the diagram of the accident; that would be my drawing if that happened to me :)

I'm almost done reading The World that We Knew by Alice Hoffman. It is an interesting story; bit mythical mixed with story based in events in Europe during WW2. Its pretty good.

    1. That sounds like an interesting book. I'll have to check it out. I know that author but I'm not sure if I've ever ready any of her books.

  4. The cat would be our cat Elliot, that is how he lays around the house most of the time :-)

  5. LOVE the kindergarten car! That's hilarious! And I so identify with the cat and the skeleton - our cats are on reduced rations and they're driving me insane with their demands . . .

Right now I'm reading four books concurrently because I keep taking them upstairs to read at bedtime and forgetting to take them back down for the next day. I know, that sounds incredibly lazy that I don't just walk back up and get them BUT I don't remember until I'm ready to sit down to read the next evening, and the cat whose turn it is to be "free" (our cats have to be kept separate) hounds me to get a drink from the tap if I go upstairs, and most days I'm so tired by then I just can't deal with another thing to do before sitting down. First world problems, I know :)

I was sure I commented on last week's comics but clearly I didn't hit Publish - just wanted to thank you for a great bunch - I couldn't pick a favourite. But the Rapunzel one made me think how low the poor thing has sunk since I last saw her in my childhood books - lol

    1. I'm often reading more than one book at a time. I have one by my bedside, which becomes that 'book before falling asleep' read. And I always have at least one on my computer desk, which becomes the sporadic reading I do throughout the day. How else would I ever read all the books on my list. I swear the books waiting to be read will outlive me! HAHA

  11. We are watching Grace and Frankie as well. I like most of the characters but the 'gay' fathers/ex-husbands are getting on my nerves. LOVE Jane and Lily and the 'business' daughter.
    Those insurance companies!!!

Another favorite was Sons of Anarchy that i binged on a long time ago. i feel for you - ...all that snow ....we have had a nice break from that - just having a lot of wind. 1. We just finished the Kominsky Method and really enjoyed it! I hope there's another season for it. I know there'll be another season for Better Call Saul but it's going to be a while. We're trying different things right now. Nothing seems to be really sticking. Maybe we'll try some movies until some series really speaks to us.

  17. I love those shipwrecked doctors ha ha ha...I really liked Fried Green Tomatoes. I watched it a few years after it came out and I thought the story was so interesting! And that movie inspired me to make fried green tomatoes last summer too! Delicious! :)

  18. Fried Green Tomatoes was a classic.

Haha, as always your funnies cracked me up. I sent the doctors one to my older daughter who is training to be an Occupational Therapist and says she can never read the doctors handwriting.
