Chuckles and Chortles

Happy new week, blogging friends! How is everyone? We are doing fine, thank you for asking. Just trying to keep busy. Yesterday I enjoyed a walk with a dear friend who lives just minutes away. It was a gorgeous day. I drove to her place at 8 AM, parked my car outside her home and we pounded the pavement for the next 90 minutes. I went home feeling great. In the evening, the most amazing man in the world and I went grocery shopping. We are stocked up for at least a week and very grateful for having enough to eat and a warm home to live in.

Last night we wrapped up season 16 of Grey's Anatomy; an enjoyable show but nothing earth shattering. We also watched the movie The Glass Castle, which was good, but certainly not as good as the memoir. Have you seen the film or read the book? Both worth checking out. We started the series Shameless, but we've only seen one episode, so I don't have an opinion of it yet. But the best thing we watched all week is the documentary RBG, which details the life of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. What a story! What a woman! A must see. I've always admired this woman but didn't know her story. Very inspiring.

Okay, time to laugh. Enjoy and have an amazing week ahead!

Chuckles and Chortles

And here we are again, blogging friends! Happy new week to all of you. What's going on in your part of the world? What have you been up to? We're now in winter mode. Yesterday afternoon we got quite a bit of snow and it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here. There's more headed our way tomorrow, but after that it'll warm up a bit, so it'll all melt. Canadian weather, eh? Up, down, all around...

So we did actually finish watching the series Away. The only part we enjoyed was the ending. I'm glad that's over and done with. We also concluded the latest season of The Crown, which we really enjoyed. What a great series. And after that was over with, we got into the documentary The Story of Diana; also very well done. Right now we're slowly going through season 16 of Grey's Anatomy. I don't consider this to be the most brilliant show but it is entertaining enough. What else, what else... Oh! We've also been enjoying some interviews on the series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman. Some of the interviewees we've watched: Ellen DeGeneres, Malala Yousafzai, Robert Downey Jr., George Clooney and Barack Obama (our absolute favourite!). What an intelligent and fascinating individual. The most amazing man in the world and I can listen to that man speak for hours. He is articulate, thoughtful and inspiring. We would love to sit with him and his wife Michelle. I can just imagine how interesting the discussions would be with this amazing couple!

Very little else to add. I'll be wrapping up John Grisham's The Guardians today and I'll be starting a new book tonight. I'm not which one yet. I've got a pile of novels to tackle, so it's going to be a challenge deciding what's next.

So that's that. Let's get to the funny stuff, shall we? Enjoy! And have an amazing day ahead.

Chuckles and Chortles

Happy Monday, my friends! How is everyone doing? We are just taking it day by day and trying to get through this pandemic as best as we can. Our weather has shifted and it's not all warm and fuzzy anymore. Today it's cold and rainy and damp. Bleh. Tomorrow we might even get a few flurries of snow coming our way. I'm just not ready for that!

Saturday morning I met up with the friend that I go walking with. We only hooked up for an hour this time. It was cold and humid and windy, which made it uncomfortable. I was dressed very warm and could have continued, but she wasn't, so we cut it short. We'll see what happens this coming weekend. We're trying to do this each week as long as the weather cooperates.

What are we watching? I'm glad you asked. Right now we're enjoying season 4 of The Crown. Love that series! We're also ever so slowly trying to wrap up Away. It's  listed as a science fiction drama but after a couple of episodes, the most amazing man in the world and I realized that there's barely any science fiction in it. It feels more like a soap opera. Not sure we'll even finish this one. What we did finish and really enjoyed is the movie BlackKklansman. Set in the 1970s, it's based on the true story of the first African-American detective in Colorado Springs who sets out to infiltrate and expose the local Ku Klux Klan chapter.

We're also done with The Trial of the Chicago 7, which I highly recommend! The whole story is quite shocking! Another one that is quite alarming that we zipped through last week is the true crime documentary Trial 4. It's the story of Sean K. Ellis who fights to prove his innocence after being charged as a teenager in the 1993 killing of a Boston police officer. And while he's doing that, police corruption and systemic racism is being exposed. It was extremely difficult to watch but very important. I can't recommend this enough. And while I'm at it, I will recommend this link for those who can't seem to - or are unwilling to - comprehend what the phrase "black lives matter" means: Why you should stop saying “all lives matter,” explained in 9 different ways.

This has become quite long, so I'll end it here. Enjoy all the funny stuff below and have yourselves a wonderful week ahead! And don't forget to share what's going on with you in the comments.

Chuckles and Chortles

Happy new week, everyone! How are you all doing? Good, I hope. The most amazing man in the world and I are doing well, and we've also been enjoying some gorgeous weather that has made it feel like spring. That won't last, of course, but we're taking advantage while we can and getting in some lengthy walks in the evening. Yesterday morning I also met up with a friend and we did a social distancing walk by the water that lasted for three hours! It was wonderful to just be out enjoying the day and catching up with each other.

My cooking adventures continue and this week's favourite was a stew that should have been prepared in the slow cooker but ended up being frantically transferred to a pot because my Crock-Pot decided to call it quits. Ah well, at least it all turned out well. Here's a link to the recipe for anyone interested in trying it: Slow Cooker Beef Stew

In viewing news, we wrapped up the series Dirty John and thoroughly enjoyed the movie Identity Thief. Isn't Melissa McCarthy just hilarious? I certainly think so. Last night we started The Trial of the Chicago 7 and watched about half of it. After all the walking I'd done in the morning and evening, I could barely keep my eyes open as it got late, so we'll watch the rest of it tonight.

What are you all up to? Share your news in the comments and enjoy this week's funny stuff below. Have a wonderful week ahead!

Chuckles and Chortles

Happy new week, everyone. And happy November! Wishing you all a great month ahead. How are things? What's new in your part of the world? Nothing earth shattering on our end but that's not a bad thing. Things are relatively quiet and I've been keeping busy around the home, particularly the kitchen. This time of year I enjoy loading up our freezer. My latest addition is a Lebanese soup that I can't remember the name of. I also got the recipe from one of my cookbooks, so I can't even share a link to it. Then why am I wasting your time with this? Probably because I don't have much else to say! It's been that type of year.

We're done with The Alienist, The Good Place and Schitt's Creek on Netflix, and we're presently zipping through Unsolved Mysteries and Fear City. The Crown will have a new season this month, which we're looking forward to. And that's it for things we're watching. In books, I'm reading John Grisham's The Guardians. It's okay. Not one of my favourites of his. Are you a reader? What types of books do you enjoy?

I will stop here because this is getting long. Let's get right to all the funny stuff, shall we? Enjoy and have a wonderful week!
