Chuckles and Chortles

Happy new week, everyone. And happy November! Wishing you all a great month ahead. How are things? What's new in your part of the world? Nothing earth shattering on our end but that's not a bad thing. Things are relatively quiet and I've been keeping busy around the home, particularly the kitchen. This time of year I enjoy loading up our freezer. My latest addition is a Lebanese soup that I can't remember the name of. I also got the recipe from one of my cookbooks, so I can't even share a link to it. Then why am I wasting your time with this? Probably because I don't have much else to say! It's been that type of year.

We're done with The Alienist, The Good Place and Schitt's Creek on Netflix, and we're presently zipping through Unsolved Mysteries and Fear City. The Crown will have a new season this month, which we're looking forward to. And that's it for things we're watching. In books, I'm reading John Grisham's The Guardians. It's okay. Not one of my favourites of his. Are you a reader? What types of books do you enjoy?

I will stop here because this is getting long. Let's get right to all the funny stuff, shall we? Enjoy and have a wonderful week!

  1. The cat who is a god just cracked me up. And I agree - people can't wear masks for shit. If it is under the nose - it's not on!

  2. LOL with them all but enjoyed the ET one and the mouse in the trap :) I read a lot of current fiction, getting my books from the e-library in town. I liked Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger. Soup sounds delicious!

  3. Hahahahaha, the mouse at the therapist's! I just finished "Where the Crawdads Sing" by Delia Owens and can recommend it as a good read, if you haven't already read it.

  4. You can't blame the statues for being pissed off, the way people have been pulling them down lately.

Just finished reading Factfulness by Hans Rosling. Not sure what to start on next.

  8. Sounds like you got a lot of tv watching done. We are almost done with the entire series of Dexter. I read a lot, mainly non-fiction. Great bunch of funnies. I like the guy driving with his cat. Which is why mine are always crated when they go to the vet. Have a wonderful week! XO

  9. The statues are new ones to me. I think I posted a bunch of them this year but I can't find them. Maybe I should start using the category... na.

Did you see where Netflix is going up another dollar a month? They are getting us in little bits at a time. Remember $7.99?

  11. Hi, Martha! I love the dog with the mask and the statues attacking people. One time The Hurricane and I went to Chicago and looked around a Lego store. She cooperated with my desire to have her sit next to a man made of Legos and pretend she was going to put her hand on his knee. Then she pretended that a Lego dinosaur was about to chomp on her hand. That was a fun time. I guess the only thing new here is that Penelope has an upset stomach. She's happy and peppy, but oh, the diarrhea! I'm fixing chicken and rice for her tonight. If that doesn't work after a couple of meals, then it's time to spend a small fortune with the vet. One other new item: Favorite Young Man has always wanted a pressure washer. I bought one for him and he's washing the heck out of everything.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. That sounds like a fun time, Janie! Oh, poor Penelope! And you. Not fun to deal with. Pressure washers are amazing. We have one and some of the things that have been washed changed colours. Or rather, their true colours were finally revealed! LOL It's shocking how dirty some things can get.

  12. Loved the kitty on a cloud photo! If you're looking for a good read, my sister-in-law wrote a book and it is finally out on the market. It's called "A Feigned Madness" and is about the journalist Nelly Bly's stint as an undercover reporter in an insane asylum. Author is Tonya Mitchell, if you are interested.

  13. Tomorrow I am going to try to print out those dog / mask pictures. Thanks for these, Martha. I am excited for a new season of The Crown - they picked a perfect Diana, as well as the next season of Oak Island on tv. I've gotten away from reading lately. Too much time spent on the computer doing other stuff, I guess. -Jenn

    1. The dog is better at masks than some people! Even with this demonstration there'd be some that still wouldn't understand :) Hope your weather is better. Ours feels like spring all of a sudden. Welcome to Canada, right? HAHA
