Chuckles and Chortles

And here we are again, blogging friends! Happy new week to all of you. What's going on in your part of the world? What have you been up to? We're now in winter mode. Yesterday afternoon we got quite a bit of snow and it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here. There's more headed our way tomorrow, but after that it'll warm up a bit, so it'll all melt. Canadian weather, eh? Up, down, all around...

So we did actually finish watching the series Away. The only part we enjoyed was the ending. I'm glad that's over and done with. We also concluded the latest season of The Crown, which we really enjoyed. What a great series. And after that was over with, we got into the documentary The Story of Diana; also very well done. Right now we're slowly going through season 16 of Grey's Anatomy. I don't consider this to be the most brilliant show but it is entertaining enough. What else, what else... Oh! We've also been enjoying some interviews on the series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman. Some of the interviewees we've watched: Ellen DeGeneres, Malala Yousafzai, Robert Downey Jr., George Clooney and Barack Obama (our absolute favourite!). What an intelligent and fascinating individual. The most amazing man in the world and I can listen to that man speak for hours. He is articulate, thoughtful and inspiring. We would love to sit with him and his wife Michelle. I can just imagine how interesting the discussions would be with this amazing couple!

Very little else to add. I'll be wrapping up John Grisham's The Guardians today and I'll be starting a new book tonight. I'm not which one yet. I've got a pile of novels to tackle, so it's going to be a challenge deciding what's next.

So that's that. Let's get to the funny stuff, shall we? Enjoy! And have an amazing day ahead.

  2. Hi Martha, thanks again for the laughs. Had to laugh out loud at "string him up" and the rearrangement of categories in the bookstore. The book rearrangement is all based on the inability to tell facts from opinions.

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed! Some people have created an alternate reality that isn't based on truth or facts.

  3. That's true about the year of your birth. As you scroll down you go flying by it. Then fly by it going back up.

  4. Sounds like you had an enjoyable week. Great funnies, it takes me quite a while to scroll to my birth year. We had snow a few weeks ago, but it melted quickly. Have a wonderful week! XO

  6. I finished the Crown also and then watched the Diana interview afterwards - A lot of what she said was protrayed well in the Andrew Morton book. I liked Away - and I've seen a few of Letterman's my next guest. i'll have to watch the one of Obama.
    love the funnies.

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed, Sandy! After we finished the Crown, we watched a couple of documentaries about Diana. Such an amazing and fascinating woman. How sad that she died so young. She would have been an incredible grandmother.

  7. I haven’t started the crown yet, but it’s rather shameful that Donald Trump is trying to keep his “crown”

  11. LOVED the new season of The Crown! Wondering how much 'artistic license' was used? all so very believable. We just started to watch Shameless. Now I know why they won so many awards.....great acting. I particularly like Joan Cusack's role.......she makes it so real!
OOPPSY said the lady who opened her double windows!! lol

    1. We finished the latest season for The Crown and we were not disappointed! Such good acting; great story. I think there is quite a bit of artistic licensing but that's art for you. And we started Shameless. Only watched one episode so far but it seems very interesting so far. We'll see how that goes.

    2. Shameless plays roller coaster with your mind and heart I find. Needed a show that had a lot of episodes after watching The Fosters and others. As a side: We ran into Harry Hamlin on P.E.I in 2010 (you meet him on Shameless soon). I actually posted a picture on sophie's blog showing the family walking down the sidewalk in Charlottetown. When he is introduced to the Shameless World I had totally forgotten that we had seen them. He looked the same as on this show. Serendipity at its best!

  12. Hello Martha !
I thought I might suggest a series for you to watch .. called "The Leftovers" .. it is what I would call a bit mind stretching. It is a journey contemplating mortality, confusion, religion, loss, grief and the power of our own minds. I think it ran for 3 seasons .. I'm going to watch it over again .. you know how you overlook some details previously .. so that is one I would recommend !
    Stay safe and well !
    Joy
PS .. yes, "Shameless" is also another wacky humorous, drama .. raunchy and hot mess language .. but a great watch too ! that has been running for YEARS .. so lots of episodes to see.

    1. Hey, Joy! So nice to hear from you. Thanks for the recommendations. We started Shameless and we'll see how it goes. I couldn't find The Leftovers on Netflix (I'm guessing it's not on there), so we won't be getting to it any time soon. I'll check now and then, and see if it's ever available. Sounds very interesting!
