Chuckles and Chortles

Happy new week, everyone! How are you all doing? Good, I hope. The most amazing man in the world and I are doing well, and we've also been enjoying some gorgeous weather that has made it feel like spring. That won't last, of course, but we're taking advantage while we can and getting in some lengthy walks in the evening. Yesterday morning I also met up with a friend and we did a social distancing walk by the water that lasted for three hours! It was wonderful to just be out enjoying the day and catching up with each other.

My cooking adventures continue and this week's favourite was a stew that should have been prepared in the slow cooker but ended up being frantically transferred to a pot because my Crock-Pot decided to call it quits. Ah well, at least it all turned out well. Here's a link to the recipe for anyone interested in trying it: Slow Cooker Beef Stew

In viewing news, we wrapped up the series Dirty John and thoroughly enjoyed the movie Identity Thief. Isn't Melissa McCarthy just hilarious? I certainly think so. Last night we started The Trial of the Chicago 7 and watched about half of it. After all the walking I'd done in the morning and evening, I could barely keep my eyes open as it got late, so we'll watch the rest of it tonight.

What are you all up to? Share your news in the comments and enjoy this week's funny stuff below. Have a wonderful week ahead!

  2. Karmadillo, LOL! "The Trial of the Chicago 7" is on my "to watch" list too. I remember the actual trial and how shocking it was.

    1. You have to watch it, Debra! We just finished the other half at lunch today and OHMYGOD what a story. I didn't even know of this period/incident. I think you'll enjoy the great acting in this film, too. Very well done.

  4. We recently watched The Trial of the Chicago 7. Good movie. Karmadillo is on point. Camera peeing would not be good for me. But it may be a challenge to some people. Pop the trunk looks like it would be fun to do for real. Then have one of those fake arms hanging out.
And as long as I'm coming up with ideas, do the stick family but have the two kids half scraped off because they are grown and gone.

    1. HAHA! Having a fake arm hanging out would be fun. Although I'm not sure the police would feel the same :)

  5. Thanks for the laughs, Martha. The "Karmadillo" really cracked me up. I lived through the trial of the Chicago 7, and look forward to seeing the movie. Our week was not bad here as we got some good news on the election, but not quite what I was hoping for.

    1. We are just wrapping up the series and have really enjoyed it. The whole story is quite disturbing. I'd never heard of this case.

  6. LOL that Freudian slip had me giggling! And the cigarette one too, I'm doomed to burn in hell lol...will you join me there Martha? ;) I'm so happy to hear your out walking! We're having warm weather here too, so it's giving Alex a chance to get up on the roof to install a new chimney pipe. I hope it all works out so we have that alternate source of heat for this winter. We hope to heat with wood from next winter on, but we are not organized for it yet! PS Thanks for supporting my spiritual blog! :) I have an IG account where I post similar stuff, I'll go and follow you so you can see it if you want! :) I love Melissa McCarthy...she used to have a tv show that I thought was hilarious but I think it was canceled.

  8. these are ALL so funny - anything with cats cracks me up - love the activities drawn in for the cat, lol. And the guy refusing a cigarette... they all made me laugh.
glad you got some long walks .
i'm just waiting for the roads to have some melt off of the ice which the sun is now hopefully going to melt some so we can get out and enjoy a brisk walk.
lucky about that stew that you got it transferred and cooked okay - well not lucky - you just know what to do. I would have held that half cooked pot of stew up and said i give up. But then cooking isn't my thing anymore.

    1. I was looking forward to using the slow cooker but it just didn't work out. I'm just glad that I was able to transfer it to the stove. Our weather has changed and we're back to cold weather. I'll still get out and walk when it isn't really bad but not as often as before. I really don't like cold weather!

  10. I love Melissa McCarthy, I think she's really funny. Watched the Heat with my older daughter recently and just cracked up. Language was a bit fruity, but still, she's 26 so has heard it all before.

I'd like to see Identity Thief - I saw previews on YouTube but we don't have Netflix. Maybe someday it will be on TV. It looked pretty funny - my kind of show.
