Chuckles and Chortles

Happy December, everyone! I know we're already a week into it but this is the first post of the new month for me. I hope it's a good one for all of you. What's everyone been up to? It's been quiet for us and I haven't done all that much. Part of that is because of the back pain I've been dealing with for a few days. Not sure how it came about but here we are. This morning it was a tiny bit better, so I hope I'm on the road to recovery.

So this week we enjoyed watching Diana: In Her Own Words (documentary), Hillbilly Elegy (movie) and Becoming (an inspiring documentary about Michelle Obama's life). We're also into the series This Is Us ( (a romantic family drama that follows the lives and families of two parents and their three children in different time frames), which is amazing! It is heartwarming and emotional. Loving it. Have any of you seen it?

Now, shall we get to the (holiday) funny stuff? Yeah, let's do that. Enjoy, and have a wonderful day ahead.

Saint John had some kind of super spreader event and we got 60 new cases last week, which is big for NB. 1. It's going to be quite different this Christmas, that's for sure. I'm okay with it. It wouldn't have been the way I wanted it to be but we'll be fine. It's a small sacrifice. As long as everyone is okay, the rest is manageable. Our cases have risen here but we're still not as bad as the big cities. I'm curious to see what it will be like when the holidays are over!

  4. Funny, thanks.

Nobody has ever asked me to say grace, but I do know a few Satanist incantations I suppose I could use. If anybody complained I'd just claim that was also a typo.

  5. Good ones Martha, all the best for your poor back. I want to recommend 'The Queen's Gambit' miniseries on Netflix, it is a winner for female empowerment.

  10. I love cookies for satan and what did you do . . . dad? I'm going to test my skills by snapping my fingers and saying, "Martha's back pain be gone." Let me know if it works. It's quiet in my house, as usual, except when the dogs are in the living room and they see someone walking down the street. No gathering for Christmas at my house, but I never have a gathering so it's not a change. I know it's disappointing for you. I'm a devoted fan of This Is Us. It's so well done.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. It wasn't long after your comment that I started to feel better, soooooo I don't know what witchy spell you cast but that snapping of the fingers obviously worked :)

We always have small gatherings but I look forward to them each year. No big deal. It's a small sacrifice on our part. There'll be enough people ignoring the health guidelines and the numbers will rise. We don't want to be those people!

    1. I know what you mean, Jim! It is emotionally draining in a good way. We have been watching nothing but that all week and we've decided it's time to add something funny or less emotional between episodes because we are emotionally exhausted! LOL

  13. these funnies are so funny - love the cookies for satan, the cat, all of them gave me a laugh. I watched Hillbilly - ... I need to begin the last season of This is Us which I haven't yet. I loved a documentary called My Octopus Teacher. I watched Diana in her own words - so interesting especially with the latest season of the Crown.
