Chuckles and Chortles

Happy new week, everyone! How is everyone doing? What are you up to? What's new? What's keeping you busy? What's going on? Not much to blab about on our end but I am happy to report that my back pain is gone. I am feeling much better!

As soon as my sorry carcass wasn't an issue anymore, I dragged out my new Crock-Pot Express Crock Multi-Cooker (a mouthful) that we'd picked up right before my aches and pains began, and put it to use. We picked it up at an amazing price when we were out shopping for a few things. I hemmed and hawed about getting it to replace our slow cooker that recently died but finally decided to go ahead. I'm so pleased I did. What a machine! It does everything but sing and dance. Does anyone have one of these machines?

This week we've only focused on watching This Is Us on Netflix. We've been really enjoying it. It's emotionally heavy but in a good way. And the acting is terrific. A couple of days ago I noticed the series The Surgeon's Cut that profiles four ground-breaking surgeons from around the world, so I think we'll start that way soon. I'm curious to see what it's all about.

And that's it for now, blogging pals. Now let's get to the funny stuff. Have an amazing week ahead!

  2. Martha, fine Christmas chuckles today. Had to laugh at the coal for Christmas, and the Santa checking the wine list.

  3. For some blogger reason the images didn't show up on my PC. But I beat the problem by right clicking on the 'broken image' icon and clicking on 'open image in new tab'.

I posted this joke on Saturday... For anyone else that's getting coal for Christmas, maybe we can link up and get a grill going.
There should be about 74+ million people getting coal this year.

  4. We have a pressure-slow cooker. It's great! I just need to use it more.
What's the best way to clean up the flavors left over from a past recipe?
Maybe I should take apart the cover but I'm afraid I won't be able to put it back together.
Anyway, once the next recipe is cooking the old scents of garlic, etc. fade away.

    1. At least on mine the silicone gasket is removable...I find this is where a lot of the 'old tastes' live. You just have to kind of 'turn it inside out' to roll it off the wire bracket holding it in place. Putting it back on is easier.

  5. It's kind of tough to dance around covid and look after the basics. However, I'm happy. I feel badly for those who find themselves depressed.

  9. You got me chuckling this morn, Martha. Thank you.
If Santa thinks he hasn't already been getting the finger, he best think again. (Maybe not in Canada, though.)

  10. I like that naughty little girl arsonist. So glad your back pain is gone. I have the same slow cooker I've had for years--nothing fancy. Not much going on around here.

    Love,

    1. We wouldn't have picked up this cooker if my slow cooker hadn't died. Not I'm glad it did because this one is so much better!

  13. Lol we got that exact model of cooker when OUR (ancient ) crock-pot died. It is wonderful. Eat a lot of yogurt and the yogurt mode works really well. It's really great to think at 5:00 "You know, I'd really like to have pot roast for dinner tonight" and it's on the plates by 7:30. A pot of beans in 40 minutes. It's a procrastinators dream!

About the ONLY thing we HAVEN'T used it as is a slow cooker, rofl!

One thing to learn: reduce the amount of liquid when moving your slow cooker recipes over to pressure cooking, or you end up with soup instead of stew ...
