Happy first Monday of 2021, my friends! How is everyone? Are you happy to be done with 2020? I know I am. It's been pretty much a write off. Here's hoping for a much better year ahead, at least the latter part of it.
We had a very quiet holiday season. Aside from some phone calls and video chats, the most amazing man in the world and I had a solo celebration. My younger daughter and her boyfriend did drive down from Ottawa to personally deliver some gifts to us a few days after Christmas but we only met outside for a few minutes before they headed off to their next destination. I thought it was really sweet the way the two of them were playing Santa with friends and family. I loved seeing them, even if it was for a short time, and I look forward to when we can get together for extended periods.
Other than that, I've got nothing. We're in a lockdown and the majority of businesses are closed, so we just pick up essentials and scurry back to the nest. When we're fortunate enough to have nice weather, we go for walks. What about you? What's going on where you are?
While you think about it, here's some funny stuff to start the week off on the right foot. Hope they make you smile! Have a wonderful week ahead. Stay safe and be well.

YES! Yes I do wish. |
Martha, thanks for the laughs. You had me with "The Untold Story."
ReplyDeleteAlways a pleasure!
DeleteThese are all so good! Especially White Jesus and Atomic Bomb Coffee Cat! Our New Year celebrations were vewy vewy qwiet too.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed, Debra! We need to laugh these days.
DeleteLove the Jesus memes and I we could all use a bottle of that idiot repellent!
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of use could use that repellant!
DeleteI need some of that repellant.
ReplyDeleteYou and me both!
DeleteYes,I chuckled and chortled all the way through this.(Perhaps even a snort thrown in for good!)
ReplyDeleteJQ Rose
HAHA! Snorts are fun :)
DeleteWell, here in the UK we are in lockdown again! Not a good way to start the year but many other countries are doing the same.
ReplyDeleteWe will be similar to you, as Eddie and I will "pick up essentials and scurry back to the nest. When we're fortunate enough to have nice weather, we will go for local walks"
Let's hope that things will get better as the year goes on.
Many thanks for the chuckles to start the week.
Sending my good wishes.
All the best Jan
We just started a lockdown for four weeks. Not the most pleasant thing but we'll manage. At least our weather has been mild, so we can get out and take walks. Hope you're doing well!
DeleteThanks for the laughs Martha, yes it is very quiet around here too!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Christine!
DeleteWe are going to have to remain recluses for a while yet. I run in quickly for a few groceries. I do get in some pretty good walks. Keep on hackin it!
ReplyDeleteI agree. This will continue for a while. We'll just keep moving forward and doing what we can to keep the numbers down.
DeleteYour daughter sounds very sweet- just like you. Our holidays were just my hubby, mom and I, but were very nice. Thanks for the chuckles- I especially like the cat pushing Humpty Dumpty off the wall. :) Have a great first week of the new year! XO
ReplyDeleteOh, that is kind! My daughter is really sweet. She's thoughtful and kind. I missed having a gathering for Christmas but we will do that again. This won't last forever. Hope you are doing well! xo
DeleteI never go out unless it's unavoidable. It's worked so far to avoid covid-19 and I'll quite ready to keep living this way for another year if that's what it takes.
ReplyDeleteOf all the things one might wish to monitor about one's cat, that one surely wouldn't be near the top of the list. The guy not only has too much time on his hands, he's a little odd.
Does the idiot repellent work over the internet?
I'm with you. I'll do what needs to be done for as long as necessary. And I wish that repellant could work over the internet. Wouldn't that be something?
DeleteI have the feeling we are on a 'final stretch' of sorts with covid. at least I hope we are. The vaccines will take a bite out of its hold on us.
ReplyDeleteI love the coffee art!! Like looking at clouds. lol
I hope so, Jim! The vaccine will certainly make a difference. I believe that the latter part of 2021 will be much different. I do hope I am right!
DeleteLOL about the idiot repellent...could use that where I am...Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteI wish it was available. I'd pick some up!
DeleteI prefer to associate with those who choose pizza over enlightenment.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chortles and chuckles, Martha.
Here's to a much, much better 2021.
Be well.
How can anyone resist pizza? :) Hope you are well, Robyn!
Delete2000 years ago Jesus wasn't even white, lololol....Loving all the funnies! I think we are all living a life that sounds like yours, pretty much. Wow won't it be nice to experience life as it use to be....that sounds so foreign to say ..weird...like it use to be - like ..it probably will never be like it use to be...but possibly hopefully better in some ways.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to getting back to some of the things I used to enjoy, particularly getting together will people I care about. But we're managing and we're doing okay. This will pass. I am going to keep this hope going!
DeleteYou come up with the best funnies, Martha. We should have a lockdown, but of course the Republican governor of our state is all about kissing trump's butt.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
That's too bad, Janie. Some people don't have a spine. We are on a lockdown again for four weeks. People were naughty during the holidays and the numbers have exploded. And here we are... Hope you are doing okay, Janie. Sending you lots of hugs. xo
DeleteOur holidays were pretty much just like yours except we did not get a chance to see our grandkids and family.
ReplyDeleteHopefully 2021 holidays will be much better!
DeleteWe don’t have a real lockdown, but I will take the vaccine when I have the chance to get one
ReplyDeleteI plan to do the same!
DeleteHi Martha, thanks for your recent comments on my blog.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!
DeleteHoping all is well with you and yours ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Hi, Jan, thanks for stopping by! Yes, everything is fine. Just needed a break from posting for a week. I'll be back on Monday. Have a wonderful weekend!
DeletePlease please please sell me some idiot repellent lol!!! Love the Jeebus jabs too. Thanks for the funnies Martha! I'm staying close to the nest too, I only go out to pick up the mail once a week and shop every 3-4 weeks. I have zero interest in being away from my home!
ReplyDeleteThat idiot repellent would sell out if it ever hit the market! I wonder if they'd make it in assorted scents like cinnamon or vanilla, etc. LOL
DeleteWe are in a lockdown now, so things are really quiet in our little city. I'm perfectly happy being home these days as the cases rise around here. Plus, it's really cold out, which makes me incredibly thankful for my warm home and my cozy life.
We are still in lock down here in the UK and have been since Christmas and it looks like we have another 5 weeks of it at least with the hope by then that the over 80s will have been vaccinated. Our hospitals aren't coping and the death rate is higher than it was last March. I feel I'm beginning to go insane now.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine! We just recently started a lockdown. It'll be until about mid February and hopefully by then the virus cases will be steady. Fingers crossed.
