Chuckles and Chortles

Happy Monday, blogging pals! I didn't post last week because I had absolutely no motivation to do so. But I'm back! How is everyone doing? What's going on with you? We're just trying to pass the time. We're in another lockdown, which will last for about four weeks. Everything, aside from essential services, has shut down, and we're advised to stay home.

Not much else to add, so let's get to the funny stuff. Have a good laugh and make sure to have a good day, too!

  1. Please stop saying these things. You sound stupid.

That's just what the Satanic lizard people from outer space want you to think.

No doubt the IQ test guy and "Bobby" went on to become conspiracy-theory believers.

    I'm 100% with Westbank Trey.

Need something new to read -- will probably be ordering a couple of books I saw recommended by other bloggers.

    1. I'm part of the "sheeple" according to the conspiracy theorists. I'm okay with that. :)

Westbank Trey is singing my song! HAHA

  2. Hahahahaha, all the cat ones are BRILLIANT! We enjoyed watching "The Queen's Gambit" too and now are attempting to play chess again. It's a good game but can be very frustrating, LOL! I just finished watching Season 1 of "The Mandalorian" on DisneyPlus, which was good. And this next series might intrigue you, Martha -- it's a Quebec series on Netlix (in French with subtitles) called "Can You Hear Me?" It's a real gritty (but not without some humour) slice of lower-class life in Montreal. There's 2 seasons of it -- we've just finished watching Season 1. Highly recommended by The Globe and Mail too.

    1. You are brave, Debra! I had the urge to try playing chess after so many years, which I imagine many people felt watching "The Queen's Gambit", but then I remembered just how frustrating it can be! Nope. Not for me.

We don't have DisneyPlus but I've been watching videos on YouTube relating to "The Mandalorian". I fell in love with "baby Yoda". So much so that I bought myself a toy replica of it. I guess that falls under the category of "stupid shit I bought online while under lockdown". But how could I resist that adorable Grogu!?

I'm going to have to check out that Quebec series! Sounds very interesting, and I would totally understand it.

  3. Hi Martha!! Love the IQ test one! I'm peeking at Debra's comment, above, and now I want to watch the one she's recommending as well. -Jenn

  4. Hi Martha, thank you for the laughs today. The IQ test had me laughing out loud, and I can see many putting in their number to find out. P. T. Barnum was not wrong.

  6. Westbank Trey hit it on the nose.

We watched Rached. Wasn't what I was expecting but it was OK.

    1. I was quite surprised by it, too. But it wasn't enjoyable enough to watch the whole thing.

  7. Thanks for the laughs Martha! We are watching too much CNN. But we loved the Queen's Gambit too.

  8. I also enjoyed the Queen's Gambit and Ratched.
Now I'm looking for another series to follow.
    Have a great week!

  10. Good point about cell phones, they track people more than anything to do with the virus. My town is in the red, but not shut down which is should be. Great funnies- I always love the cat ones. Have a nice week and stay healthy. XO

  11. I like a blunt Martha. My friend Carol got her first vaccine shot on Friday, but she had already been implanted with a computer chip so they didn't giver her another one.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. That is fantastic about Carol getting the vaccine! Too bad she didn't get another chip. She could have chosen a potato chip this time. My potato chip implant probably won't be available until much later this year. I'm considering Lay's BBQ. :)

  13. Rants are good for the soul. And we have a lot to rant about lately, eh?
As usual it takes some humans a long time to 'catch on' as to what is important at this time. It could be their loss in the end I am afraid.
We are watching a series on Netflix called 'The Heist'.....a Spanish dubbed series (can hardly notice that it is dubbed).......about an interesting group of 'bank robbers'. It is exciting and nail-biting anticipation throughout.
Have a good week and be safe.

    3. I'll have to check that out, Jim. Always searching for something interesting to watch.

Yes, we certainly have a lot to rant about these days. Once in a while I need to purge mine out of my system! LOL

  14. Hello Martha, lovely to see this post.
I think we all need a good rant every now and again!

Many thanks for the funnies ...
As well as your post it is always interesting to read the comments.
I see "The Mandalorian" has been mentioned, one of our sons has been watching it and has recommended it to other family members and friends, not sure that Eddie and I will watch it but I think some of the younger family members may.

I hope your week is going well. I had a nice walk earlier before the rains came. A lot of the UK has a weather warning for Storm Christoph so I think Wednesday may well be housework day! Oh well, it will get it done :)

    Take care, my good wishes.

    All the best Jan

    1. We do indeed need a good rant from time to time!

We are enjoying some mild weather and little to no snow, but now things are on the opposite end of the spectrum: lots of cold and lots of snow! Oh well, we are grateful for our warm and cozy home

I hope you've been enjoying a lovely weekend!

  15. Hi Martha, Sounds like it is about the same as the USA with COVID right now. I live in the Phoenix area and am 74 so I was able to get my husband and myself appointments for vaccine in February. It will be the end of March before we can get back with family again. I can’t wait! I am reading President Obama’s new book A Promised Land. It is just excellent but it is about the USA. Still it is very interesting I think for anyone to read. Stay safe!

    1. Oh, lucky you! I don't think we'll be getting vaccines until much later this year. We gifted my daughter's boyfriend President Obama's new book. I actually wouldn't mind reading it myself. I really like him and his wife!

  16. LOL and thank you. Watching the inauguration stuff here, very quiet comparatively.

  17. I've seen that last meme before and laugh every time. :D

We are in full lockdown again. Our area in the UK is the highest in the country for new cases of covid. Not something I'm proud of, and yet you still see twats walking around with no masks on.

    1. There are those people everywhere! I see some around here, too. But most of the people are wearing masks, which is nice.

  18. Love the funnies - i always love the cat ones the best. I tried and maybe gave up too early with Queens Gambit - i'll have to go back. I did watch Ratchett all the way - it was okay. I've been watching movies lately but started the whole series of Desparate Housewives. I never watched it when it was first on. I kind of like it - still in the first season though. I like the narration. I've fit in a few Documentaries - mostly nature or find the killer type... and trying to catch up on a few series over at Hulu - Grey's and 911 and a few others. So many things on my watch list....netflix, hulu, amazon, hbomax...I should probably just have one app and stick with it.

    1. I resisted with Queens Gambit but I'm glad we saw it through. It gets better and better. We only have Netflix, so it hasn't been overwhelming! I'm intrigued and tempted by the others, but I think we'll just stick with one.

  19. our lock down has been lifted and completely i guess ( we don't see the news anymore) because my youngest son is going to school since 18th of January ,even before that when we had smart lock down and school were closed ,markets were packed with people so badly ,each shop we visited had many people inside as here this is preferable season for marriage ceremonies

we had to quit Queen of Gambit after one episode as hubby likes the action and happening more though i enjoy all kind of shows except those reveal much mingling of genders ,i find them uncomfortable

we just finished Monarca a Spanish drama ,family drama , handled nicely ,i find Spanish dramas more interesting they seem to deal with human characters and psychology with extra depth unlike European that seems more intelligent
i Enjoyed the funnies thoroughly :)
wishing you all the best in days ahead my dear Martha !

    1. Like you, I enjoy all kinds of shows. My husband is a little more picky and we've tried and quit quite a few series and movies because he couldn't get into them. But there's plenty to choose from, so that' okay.

Wishing you well. I hope you've been enjoying a lovely weekend!
