Chuckles and Chortles

Hey, blogging pals, how are you all doing? Happy new week to everyone. What have you been up to lately? What's going on? I hope you are all doing well. We're fine and we're keeping busy. I slowed down a little last week with the spring cleaning because it caught up with me. I tackled some smaller projects and packed up a few more things for donation. There isn't that much left to do, so I'm very satisfied with where I'm at. Just a little more to go and I can wrap all this up.

I'll be spending more time working on the outdoors very soon, which I'm really looking forward to. I noticed that the garden centers around town are stocking up. I can't wait to go visit and pick up perennials for our empty flower beds. We need some colour! We also need trees on our property, which there are none of. Our plan is to add at least two this year; maybe even three. We'll see how it goes. I also have a bee and butterfly house that I picked up that needs to be installed somewhere. Not sure where but we'll figure it out.

Saturday evening we got together with my bestie and her husband for dinner at their place. They live about an hour away in Quebec. The drive goes quickly because most of it is on the highway. Because the roads were very quiet, our trip was that much more pleasant. We hadn't met up at their home in over two years. What a joy it was to be able to finally do that. We had an amazing time. They are such a great couple. Before we went to their place, we stopped off at the bookstore for about an hour...my favourite place to be! All in all, a fabulous day. We didn't get home until 1:30 AM! We're not used to being out that late, so you can imagine how tired we were the next day. Our cats, who are also not used to us being gone for so long, met us at the door when we got home...with looks of disapproval, no less! What kind of cat parents were we gallivanting around at all hours of the night? Ah, cats...

That’s it for now. Enjoy all the funny images and have a wonderful week ahead!

  5. Sounds like you had a great time with your friends. I am surprised your kitties didn't ground you for being out so late. :) I love bookstores too. I usually make lists of new books to get from the library when I go to one. I really miss book sales, most of the ones in my area are still cancelled. Nice bunch of funnies. Have a great week. XO

    1. HAHAHA! Yes, I'm surprised, too. We deserved to be grounded. We're NEVER out that late. The next day our calico was very clingy. She does that when we're gone for longer than usual. She is so cute. Book sales are the best! Sometimes you find amazing gems at them. I hope you have one soon!

    1. Hi, Christine! I had comment moderation on because of a lot of spam but things seem okay now, so I've turned it off. That being said, I'm having difficulty with other areas of blogger, so there may still be problems. Thank you for reaching out and letting me know!

  9. The funnies! Love them - ...lol. Sounds like such a good visit ..good day ... and i'm intrigued about your bee and butterfly house. Hope you share a photo when you get it installed. Not quite sure what it looks like. Only thing lately around here is a lot of getting out and going to places we haven't been for awhile.. i'm not one who can stay home for more than three days and then I'm outta here... Winter was rough this year, a lot of wind and spring has been windy also. Finally have had a few calmer days. Enjoy the week and start paying attention to those cats, lol...Beanie always gets an attitude when we are leaving.

    1. I'm like you, Sandy. I like to get out and about. I also enjoy day trips and visiting different areas. Meeting up with friends at coffee shops or restaurants is also fun, although I prefer it in small groups. I hope to enjoy a lot of outdoor adventures this year. It should be a fun spring, summer and fall! I'll share an image of that bee and butterfly house once it's installed. It's small but really cute.

  12. Oh, I SO want to be a cat in my next life!!
'Galavanting'......haven't heard THAT in so long! My parents used it a lot.

I wish we had lots of perennials.......over the years we planted so many trees and shrubs (which we love) that they, the trees/shrubs, shaded the perennials and thus not many perennials could survive. We have pollarded a few trees/cut them in half so to bring in more sunshine and it worked.
Have a great week you guys.

    1. You and me both, Jim, about being a cat in the next life. LOL And I don't know how that word "galivanting" came to mind. Just out of the blue! You have many trees, we have none! The few plants we have can use some shade because the afternoon sun beats down on them and it's pretty brutal. Hopefully this year we get a move on that. I hope you are enjoying a wonderful week so far.

    1. Bookstores are the best, Jan! I really love visiting them regardless of whether I pick up anything or not. The ambience is always lovely. And always a pleasure with the chuckles. We can all use the humour!

  14. The best time to plant trees is NOW. I would plant all you can afford to get. I takes trees so long to grow up big and, planting now, you both will be around to enjoy them! I love these cartoons! You always pick such funny ones!

    1. Nancy, I couldn't agree more! The garden centers are just getting started and I'll be visiting them soon. I wish we have planted them when we moved here because we would have seen some growth by now but there were so many other responsibilities at the time. But this year I'm obsessed with getting this done. HAHA I hope you are keeping well!
