Chuckles and Chortles

Hello all you lovely people! How was your weekend? How was the past week? What's going on, everyone? Feel free to share what you'd like in the comments. It's always nice to hear from you. Let me know what you've been up to and how things are in your part of the world. This morning as I write this, it is a gorgeous sunny day! But it's quite deceiving because it's cold out. We're not quite at t-shirt weather but that's alright; we're slowly getting there. I'm eagerly waiting for the days to get better and for the garden centers to open up. I look forward to plenty of garden work this spring. I've got a lot of flower bed spaces to fill up! I will focus mostly on perennials but I'll toss in a few annuals, as well.

You know what I've been up to all week? Spring cleaning, de-cluttering and re-organizing. We have tons of stuff ready for donation and I'm not done yet! Books, CDs, household items, clothing, kitchenware...you name it...out out out! We're even getting rid of three pieces of furniture...so far! There may be more. This spring the focus is on minimizing what we have to make it easier to manage our home and very easy to keep up with the cleaning. The older we get, the less things we want around the house and the less we want to dust and vacuum and take care of. We want to simplify our lives.

And after a very full week of chores, I enjoyed some leisure time yesterday in my hometown of Montreal. I met up with some friends for breakfast and then I met up with my older daughter for lunch and spent the rest of the day with her. What a treat for all my hard work last week! It was a wonderful day and my heart is full. Today I plan to do...absolutely nothing! I've earned the break.

Now let's get to the funny stuff, shall we? Enjoy, my friends, and have an amazing week ahead! I'll be visiting your blogs as soon as this uploads...

  1. Good morning, Martha! I loved all the comics today. Not quite planting weather yet, is it? Windy and rainy here this morning. Have a good day! -Jenn

  2. Wow, you're on a sort-and-cull FRENZY! Feels good to get rid of excess stuff, doesn't it? I need to get cracking on my bookshelves -- time for a major overhaul. Love your cartoons as always, especially the couch on the acid trip, lol!

    1. I am ruthlessly ditching stuff, Debra! LOL You should see how many things I've gotten rid of and I'm not even halfway through the house. I think my husband is starting to be afraid. HAHA But not really. He's getting into it. It does feel good to get rid of the excess stuff. Good luck with your bookshelves! That is where I spent most of my time.

  4. Oh, the nectarine!! LOL!! And that last one is depressingly close to the truth.

You really did have a productive week and your treat was well warranted :)

    1. The last one is quite depressing with how true it is! I can't believe how much prices have risen. I don't know how people manage!

  5. Glad you got to see your daughter and some friends. I am de-cluttering too. I wish I could get my hubby in on it. Every year I get rid of more of my stuff and he never does. I am running out of stuff. :)
Great funnies, especially the first one- I am going to send that to my cousin that is into ancestry.com.
    Have a nice Easter! XO

Your weather sounds similar to ours......not quite t-shirt time, but getting there.
In the garden almost daily when it is not raining. Always find something that needs tending.
    Have a good week, Martha.

  12. HAHAH, washing the groceries, in 2022..so true. Sounds like your weather is like ours. Still chilly and the sun comes out and then the fog rolls in and the heavy breezes, then sun again and windy and ...yes hardly any garden centers open up here. They usually don't get their stock of things until after Mothers' day because we rarely have snow events after that.

    1. Yes, that sounds like our weather! And April has been pretty cold this year. That's okay. I've been using that time to do some de-cluttering and spring cleaning. By the time the really great weather kicks in, at least all that will be out of the way!
