For now we are done with planting trees. We're considering adding a blue spruce in the front in the fall and eventually I'd like to see if we can squeeze in a small cherry tree somewhere. But our focus for the next few weeks is going to be on getting the stones in for the flower beds, adding a shed to the corner of the yard and ordering compost, top soil and mulch to spread throughout the property. There is still a lot of work to be done but we've made oodles of wonderful progress so far. Here are this week's show offs:

Chuckles and Chortles
Happy last Monday of June, blogging pals! We are getting ready to say good-bye to another month. How was it for you? And what's been going on? Share in the comments! As usual, it's the garden for us. Last Monday we adopted and planted tree number four! Yes, we certainly did. We brought home an adorable hydrangea that is about four feet tall and added it to our property. We named this one Odin, like the God in Norse mythology. Because...why not? We also added a bunch of bird feeders and we now have a flurry of activity in the garden, which we didn't have before. Our cats are loving every minute of it through the windows.

On the social front, I took a long walk with a friend yesterday morning. The company was great and so was the conversation. Yesterday evening, my husband and I went to a Thai restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary! 18 years later, he's still the most amazing man in the world. And yesterday was also my older daughter's 30th birthday. I can't believe how fast the years have gone by. I'll be heading to my hometown of Montreal tomorrow morning to pick her up and spend the day with her.
And that's it, my friends. I hope you are all keeping well. Don't forget to share your news in the comments. Enjoy all the funny images and have a wonderful week ahead.

Chuckles and Chortles
Here we are again with a new week ahead! They come and go so quickly, don't they? How was your weekend? Anything interesting or unusual happen? What are you up to? Our weekend was fairly quiet but we did go out for dinner both days and we did take a stroll by the waterfront yesterday evening. The weather was gorgeous and being by the water is always our favourite place. And, of course, we've been dedicating a considerable amount of time in the garden, which is slowly but surely coming to life. Just about every flowering plant is filled with buds preparing to open. These two are this week's greatest performers:
You know what else we did a few days ago? We planted another two trees! We did we did we did! We picked up a crabapple that we named "Carly" and a lilac tree that we named...(you're going to love this one!)...Lilith. Like Adam's first wife. *snicker* It was actually the most amazing man in the world's idea. So now we have three trees on our property and today we're going to look for number four! We've decided to go with a hydrangea. The one we're looking into doesn't grow very big and we've got the perfect spot for it. We also added some bird feeders to bring in some feathery action. Slowly but surely, our plans for our little property are coming to fruition. Eva, our variegated maple, for those who are wondering, is doing wonderfully. Look at how gorgeous her leaves are:
We've also begun discussing our trip out east in the fall and how we're going to do it. We have a lot of options and we're going to figure out which one is best for us. Nova Scotia and P.E.I....we'll be there before you know it. I am so excited! And I can't wait to meet up with some blogging pals who live out east. You know who you are! I'm going to get in touch at some point and ask some questions. Inquiring travelers want to know!
Okay, time to go. I have to get out and water my babies before we head out to the garden center for another tree. Have a wonderful day, everyone, and an amazing week ahead. Enjoy all the funnies!

Chuckles and Chortles
Happy Monday, my blogging pals! How is everyone doing? What have you been up to? How are things going? What's keeping you busy these days? Share, share, share... Oh, by the way... Is anyone using Bloglovin'? I was but I finally ditched it. There were one too many times lately that it wouldn't work and I couldn't see your blog posts. I have now moved on to Feedly. Anyone using that?
Our Sunday was very quiet but our Saturday wasn't. In the evening, we attended a small outdoor house party hosted by a friend of a friend. We hung out on the deck all night long and had a really nice time. There was a lot of food, drinks, music and laughter. And the weather was just perfect! We got home around midnight, which is late for us these days!
Outdoor projects are keeping us busy. Weeding, planting, watering, planting, planting, planting... I am determined to fill up our flower beds this year. Here is one area that we worked on a couple of weeks ago. We're going to eventually add more tiles and extend this section, but for now, it's a decent start. The plants are still young but they will grow quickly and those pots will fill up in no time! I do all my garden work early in the morning because the side of our house faces south and by late morning the entire yard is flooded with sun, which is great for the plants but not so great for the humans.
Baby tree is doing wonderfully! We've had a good amount of rain, which we're so grateful for. It'll keep the ground moist while the roots are growing and settling in. And we gave our little variegated maple a name. Ready? Here it is...drumroll... Eva! The way Wall-E pronounces it. Eeeeeva. Have you seen that animated film? The name is actually Eve in the movie but we decided on Eva the way Wall-E says it; much more fun. Here is a glimpse of Eeeeeva.
The image doesn't do her justice. She is much prettier in person with her lovely variegated leaves. And now that we've discovered how much joy this little tree has brought into our lives, we'll be adding two more as fast as we can. It's a nice day as I write this and we'll likely head out this afternoon to the garden center where we picked up Eva from to order two more trees.
Speaking of garden centers, I'll be popping over to one this morning before I head outside to do yard work. So...I will leave you now with these funny images. Enjoy and have an amazing week ahead!

Happy new week, my friends! How are you doing? Did you have a nice weekend? Was last week a good one for you? I certainly hope so. Share what you've been up to in the comments!
Yesterday morning I went for a lengthy walk with a friend nearby that I hadn't seen in ages. It was a gorgeous morning and it was nice to hook up and catch up. And yesterday evening, we met up with some friends at a pub for a quick drink and to watch a band playing. We left from there after about an hour and headed to a restaurant for dinner. The weather was amazing, the food was great and the company was fabulous. All in all a wonderful day.
It's been all about gardening lately! I'm having a grand old time visiting garden centers and picking up baby plants. Our flower beds are filling up and we should be having an explosion of colour very soon. I'll take photos when that happens and share them. In the meantime, here are some very green plants.

My beautiful Hosta is so healthy and happy!
And...we are the proud parents of our first tree! It's just a baby but it will grow. We visited a family-owned garden center about twenty minutes from here on Friday and fell in love with a variegated maple. So we ordered it and asked for it to be delivered. We weren't expecting it for about a week to ten days, but the center must've had a lot of orders for our area and they dropped it off yesterday evening. While we were out at dinner! They placed it in our yard in a very secure spot. What a lovely surprise to come home to. The service at this garden center is outstanding. We'll be planting our baby tree later this morning and I'm so excited! We need to add two or three more to our property but at least we're getting started.
Now let's get to the funny stuff because right after I have breakfast I'm off to - you guessed it - the garden center! Enjoy and have an amazing week ahead.
