Chuckles and Chortles

Happy new week, my friends! How are you doing? Did you have a nice weekend? Was last week a good one for you? I certainly hope so. Share what you've been up to in the comments!

Yesterday morning I went for a lengthy walk with a friend nearby that I hadn't seen in ages. It was a gorgeous morning and it was nice to hook up and catch up. And yesterday evening, we met up with some friends at a pub for a quick drink and to watch a band playing. We left from there after about an hour and headed to a restaurant for dinner. The weather was amazing, the food was great and the company was fabulous. All in all a wonderful day.

It's been all about gardening lately! I'm having a grand old time visiting garden centers and picking up baby plants. Our flower beds are filling up and we should be having an explosion of colour very soon. I'll take photos when that happens and share them. In the meantime, here are some very green plants.

My beautiful Hosta is so healthy and happy!

It won't be long before this Lilium puts on a spectacular flower show!

And...we are the proud parents of our first tree! It's just a baby but it will grow. We visited a family-owned garden center about twenty minutes from here on Friday and fell in love with a variegated maple. So we ordered it and asked for it to be delivered. We weren't expecting it for about a week to ten days, but the center must've had a lot of orders for our area and they dropped it off yesterday evening. While we were out at dinner! They placed it in our yard in a very secure spot. What a lovely surprise to come home to. The service at this garden center is outstanding. We'll be planting our baby tree later this morning and I'm so excited! We need to add two or three more to our property but at least we're getting started.

Now let's get to the funny stuff because right after I have breakfast I'm off to - you guessed it - the garden center! Enjoy and have an amazing week ahead.

  1. Came home from work and felt sick after watching the last current episode of Stranger things. Paranoid mind goes to Covid-19 but all my symptoms aren't the same. My stepdaughter apparently woke up feeling similar which makes me feel like it's not as kids especially the young ones seem practically immune to it

  4. i always love reading your blog posts. You remind me that it use to be good to have friends, lol...and go out and do such simple but nice things.... I would say my 50's to 60's were the best times for having nice meals out and stopping at nurseries and such - and keeping in touch with friends (most of mine have left the planet). Love all the funnies. And just the other day i did stop in at one of my favorite nurseries. have a good week in your garden and enjoy your new tree.

    1. We're trying to get out and enjoy ourselves as much as possible. The past couple of years were too isolating. And I enjoy being off the computer more these days. I love my online contacts but I need people in the real world! LOL I hope you are enjoying a wonderful week so far.

  6. So pleased you enjoyed time with friends.
It is very enjoyable to visit garden centres and even more so when you find the plants/baby trees you want.
Happy growing, your green plants look great.

  7. Congrats on your first tree! That is exciting. The sitting down to watch a movie and having a pet vomit, was funny! It's funny because it's true! In our case, dogs and it's often they scratch to go out but same idea.

    1. OHMYGOSH, I can't tell you how excited I am! I LOVE our new tree. We even gave it a name. We have a lot of rain this week but as soon as it clears, we're going to get two more. We're not waiting. We'll plant three right away and get started. And then I'll video tape all the work we've done in the yard and share that along with the names we're giving our new baby trees!

  8. Given some of the weirdos running amuck these days, I'm not sure you can assume that's short for "assorted".

There's probably some municipal rule that they have to put out those cones for any obstruction in the street.

Hope the tree planting went well! Sounds like your garden is an ongoing art project which will soon be developing on its own.

I was actually thinking about you guys the other day because I ran across some grass plants. Some of them are really nice. I'll have to see if I have a spot for one.
