For now we are done with planting trees. We're considering adding a blue spruce in the front in the fall and eventually I'd like to see if we can squeeze in a small cherry tree somewhere. But our focus for the next few weeks is going to be on getting the stones in for the flower beds, adding a shed to the corner of the yard and ordering compost, top soil and mulch to spread throughout the property. There is still a lot of work to be done but we've made oodles of wonderful progress so far. Here are this week's show offs:

Chuckles and Chortles
Happy last Monday of June, blogging pals! We are getting ready to say good-bye to another month. How was it for you? And what's been going on? Share in the comments! As usual, it's the garden for us. Last Monday we adopted and planted tree number four! Yes, we certainly did. We brought home an adorable hydrangea that is about four feet tall and added it to our property. We named this one Odin, like the God in Norse mythology. Because...why not? We also added a bunch of bird feeders and we now have a flurry of activity in the garden, which we didn't have before. Our cats are loving every minute of it through the windows.

On the social front, I took a long walk with a friend yesterday morning. The company was great and so was the conversation. Yesterday evening, my husband and I went to a Thai restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary! 18 years later, he's still the most amazing man in the world. And yesterday was also my older daughter's 30th birthday. I can't believe how fast the years have gone by. I'll be heading to my hometown of Montreal tomorrow morning to pick her up and spend the day with her.
And that's it, my friends. I hope you are all keeping well. Don't forget to share your news in the comments. Enjoy all the funny images and have a wonderful week ahead.

Hard to believe you have a 30 year old daughter! Happy Bday to her! And my, that last meme is macabre, isn't it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debra! It's hard to believe how many years have just zipped right by.
DeleteMartha, congratulations on your wedding anniversary. Thanks for the Monday laughs. Both bath spider and Pez dispenser made me laugh. I've been called to do spider removal many times.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm glad you enjoy the laughs. It's fun putting them together.

DeleteCongratulations on your wedding anniversary and to your daughter on her thirtieth birthday. June was a great month for us, but we try to make very day great so that's not a surprise. I am not looking forward to the heat and humidity of July and August, but there's not much I can do about it! Before we know it the first days of fall will be greeting us.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, David. And like you, I am not looking forward to the heat and humidity coming up. I am happier when the days are sunny but cool!
DeleteCongrats on the anniversary and birthday
ReplyDeleteThanks, Adam! I hope you and your family are all well.
DeleteI've attempted to leave foot impressions before but luckily failed.

Thank you very much, Jan! I hope you're having a lovely week!
DeleteI always think of saving off the funnies to post them where my husband will see them but then I would collect way too many. The ones you choose are so funny. Love the photos and it's always nice to connect with a friend for a walk. I saw my neighbor finally yesterday afteroon and we had a fun talk over the fence. We usually don't cross paths much. And are you serious only one blue spruce lol - how about five or so. They are my very favorite tree of all time. I don't have any here only incense cedar trees but whenever I see a blue spruce when I'm out i take a photo.
ReplyDeleteI wish we had the room for more than one blue spruce, Sandy! HAHA I'd load them up. But one is about all we can handle. I just adore them. They are gorgeous trees and they have a large selection of them where we picked up the trees we planted. We'll have to go back in early fall and get one of them!
DeleteYour garden sounds lovely. Good luck with all of the projects!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, e! I hope all is well with you.
DeleteThanks for the funnies. they will get my week off to a good start.
ReplyDeleteAlways a pleasure. Have a wonderful rest of the week!
DeleteBeautiful blooms. Happy Anniversary! And Happy Birthday to your daughter! Great bunch of funnies Have a wonderful week! XO
ReplyDeleteThank you! I hope you are enjoying a wonderful week. xo
DeleteThe first two CRACKED ME UP! lol Spiders can really be that BIG for some people........
ReplyDeleteWe're still learning about ornamental grasses and liking the results so far. So much to learn.
When we were in the tree transplanting mode many years ago we failed to consider that they do grow up and spread and block the sun for anything underneath them. We have learned to live with this.
Have a great week, Martha!
That's something we're being careful about, Jim; to make sure we don't plant many large trees. We've spread them out and we've chosen a few that are not going to get very good. The property was in desperate need of trees because it faces south but we thought about long-term results. Hopefully it all turns out as well as we imagine it will!
DeleteLove the "spider the shower" one. I can totally relate!
ReplyDeleteThey love to sneak up on us in there! HAHA
DeleteYour flowers are so pretty, Martha! I enjoyed the funnies. Well, not the one of the spider in the shower. That might give me nightmares!
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine coming face to face with a spider that size, Louise! I'm not really bothered by them but something like that would! LOL
DeleteVery pretty flowers, especially liked the 1st one. - Lots of funnies but that Spider one made me laugh big time.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ida! And I'm so pleased you enjoyed the funnies. Laughing is good for us!
DeleteYour garden is really coming along Martha .. I love the idea of a Blue Spruce .. they are BEAUTIFUL !
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the anniversary and many happy birthdays to daughter ... YES !!! time is flying by .. I don't even know where today went ! LOL
I'd love to have a Blue Spruce, Joy. We'll be looking into it as we get closer to September. Thank you for the good wishes! Have a wonderful week ahead.
