Chuckles and Chortles

Happy Monday, lovely friends. And happy October! I missed a post last week but that couldn't be helped. It was a busy period and I just never got around to it. This week will also be very busy, especially in the garden. I need to clean things up and get them into storage. The weather is still quite nice and quite a few plants are still flowering, but all the statues and pots need to be put away now. It's been a really wonderful gardening season but I'm looking forward to a break now. It'll be nice to focus on other things. I've got a whole bunch of projects indoors that I'd like to tackle in the next few months.

What's been going on with you? Please share in the comments below. We're keeping busy around here and we're also keeping busy socially. I personally have been to my hometown of Montreal twice within the past ten days. My first visit was for brunch with friends I've known since I was a youngster. And my second visit was for lunch with friends I used to work with back in the early 2000s. And the most amazing man in the world and I have had a dinner date and two coffee dates with friends that live in this city. I don't think we've ever socialized with other people as much as we have in the past few months. We seem to be making up for the past two years. It's been wonderful!

Not much else to share. I'll be spending the day in the garden cleaning up and taking photos of autumn flowers that I'll share with you on my next post. Enjoy the funnies and have a wonderful week ahead.

  1. It SURE is a busy time in the garden! We had a nip of frost last night.......things/leaves/blossoms will start to disappear. Yes, almost time for a break.
    'Is that my wand'!? LOL
    Have a great week, Martha!

    1. We've had frost, as well, Jim. But not bad enough to kill off all the plants. Many of them are still blooming, which is nice. It won't be long, though, before it all comes to an end.

  2. I hope that skull is the actual person who told them to do more outdoor activities.

I don't understand why people consider ghosts so frightening. What exactly do they think a ghost could do to hurt them?

A dog would be bad enough, but imagine if a cat got hold of a magic wand. Terrifying.

    1. HAHA! Yes, just imagine a cat holding a magic wand. They already rule the world without one. I can't imagine what they'd do with one.

  5. Agreed that covid has grown in us quite a longing for socialization and i believe it would have not been possible if there was no covid restrictions around for two years almost . recent long dreadful heavy rainfall has done the same for people of my small city ,no roof in the city can be found which is not under repairing process . it's third week of labor working in the house ,can take whole month as our house is big
wishing you all the best for your future plans :) hugs and blessings

  8. Wow! It's October! The year is flying by.

Our leaves are really beginning to fall down quickly now, but they are nice and colourful.

    Many thanks for the laughs.

    All the best Jan

  9. You don't even know how envious I am that you are cleaning up the garden for winter! Living in northern California, I've let my lawns die and working on hardscapes. Pulled up all flowers but the most natural to the area and are drought tolerant. The only lawns in the neighborhood that are still green are spray painted green! I'm looking forward to moving to a place where it rains. Rain...oh the memories!

    1. Hi, Toni! It's so nice to see you here. I can only imagine how difficult it is living somewhere with little rain. I hope you're back to blogging. I'll be visiting blogs soon and I hope to see you there. Take good care!

    1. I did, Louise! Most of it is complete and I'm so relieved. Just a tiny bit of cleanup left, and then both the garden and I will relax until spring. I hope all is well with you!

  11. Hi, late to the party here. Love the memes and I know what you mean about winterizing - I came home this weekend for a few days before i leave again and I brought things in that needed to be put away whenever our firsts snow hits. I'll be at the coast for a long time but Mike will be here at the house. I forget your thanksgiving is before outs.

    1. I always try to get things indoors before it gets too cold. Our weather has been wonderful lately, so it's been a joy working outside and settling the garden for the winter. I enjoy it but I'm now ready for a break.
