Hey, blogging pals! I hope you're all doing well. Happy spring to those who live where spring has sprung. A mouthful there...try saying that a few times in a row! How are you all doing and what have you been up to? Share in the comments and let me know. I'd love to hear all about it.
It's been forever since I posted but I really needed the break. Remember when I wrote about having a kidney infection way back in December? Well, the kidney infection cleared up after the medication took care of it but other health issues followed. I visited my doctor twice, and the physical examinations that she did and the multiple tests that she ran all came back negative, so the good news is that there was nothing seriously wrong with me. But I continued to have inexplicable symptoms and I wasn't feeling well. My doctor came to the determination that the antibiotics that I had taken, which were very strong, may have brought on side effects. Antibiotics are remarkable at fighting infections, but because they can't distinguish between good and bad bacteria, they can wreak havoc on your healthy bacteria, which causes an imbalance. Apparently, it can take up to six months to recover from damage done by antibitics.
My doctor recommended that I take probiotics to help restore balance. I popped over to the pharmacy and the pharmacist recommended what to take after checking my file to see which antibiotic I had been prescribed. I was skeptical at first, but after several weeks of taking a probiotic every day, exercising regularly, keeping stress levels low and eating food that will help restore my damaged gut health, I am feeling great! My gosh, it worked. I only have about a couple of week's worth of probitics left to take and then it'll be up to me to continue eating and living well. So that's pretty much what was going with me for quite some time. It's been a long and tiring and trying journey, but I'm grateful that things have turned out well.
Now, enough about my troubles. Let's get to the funny stuff because we all could use a laugh from time to time. It's good for our health! Enjoy and have an amazing week.
Glad you're feeling better, Martha! Yes, don't get me started on those grocery store produce bags!
ReplyDeleteThose store produce bags test your patience! LOL
DeleteSo sorry about the health problems Martha, my hubby likes those probiotic yogurts. Thanks for the laughs! Good to hear from you
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried those yogurts but I just might. Yogurt is great for that! I hope all is well with you, Christine.
DeleteWelcome back! Glad the probiotics apparently worked. Managing bacteria can be quite tricky.
ReplyDeleteNo matter what we do, the zombies will be better dressed than we are since most people are buried in good clothes.
I hate those plastic bags in the produce sections of grocery stores. Many a time I've really had to struggle to open them (it's worse when you have arthritis). If that guy comes back as a zombie, at least he won't need to keep trying to open it since you don't need plastic bags for brains.
Classic review of Alien. The sequel followed somewhat the same pattern.
Thanks! I'm happy to be back. I wanted to wait until I really felt better. I wasn't motivated to share anything humorous with the way I felt.
DeleteI think we'd have bigger problems than how we dressed if zombies showed up! HAHA
Good to see you back posting Monday humor. Good to know you are feeling better. Welcome back.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's great to be back.
DeleteGood to have you back! Glad you got everything cleared up finally. Yep, large doses of antibiotics are no joke. I had a brain abscess in the summer of 2021 that took 5 weeks of very strong IV antibiotics to clear up. After I got off the antibiotics I immediately developed an intestinal infection (because the antibiotics wiped out all the "good" bacteria in my gut). It's been nearly two years since then and it took over a year for my digestive system to reset. In some ways, it's still not entirely back to "pre-infection" status and I'm thinking it may never fully recover.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a journey, Linda! Antibiotics can definitely do that. I can relate to your last statement. I'm not 100% back to normal and I'm not sure I ever will be. I'm thankful that I'm as close to that as possible. As I get older, things don't get back to normal as fast (or even fully!) as they used to.
DeleteVery glad you're all restored. Keep eating yogurt! And thank you for the funnies.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm really happy to be back.
Deletemissed hearing from you dear friend Martha !
ReplyDeletethis is Grace of Lord that you are back and sharing what you been through . had no idea ,i thought it was some kind of trip or something like that.

Thank you so much, my dear Baili! I'm grateful to be back and to be feeling much better. It was a tiring period but it seems over now. Just in time for spring! That video was a tribute to my hubby and how thankful I am that we met. He makes this life that much more wonderful! Peace and joy and good health to you and your loved ones, sweet friend!

DeleteThank you so much, my lovely friend! I feel blessed to have come together with such an amazing partner.
DeleteActive volcano is the best shower temp. It's sad when the hot water runs out.
ReplyDeleteHAHA! Totally agree. I take volcano showers year long!
DeleteHi Martha! Thanks for the chuckles. Sorry to hear about your health issues and glad you're starting to feel a bit better. I understand about the probiotics, I think the older we get it takes our bodies longer to bounce back. I had a colonoscopy last month which of course wipes out all the gut microbes and I'm still trying to get back to normal. It never bothered me on the previous procedures. So I'm attributing it to my old age! Lol! Take care and Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you! Age certainly plays a part of it. I find that I don't bounce back as easily and as quickly as I did in my younger years. That's to be expected, of course, but it doesn't mean I like it! LOL Happy spring to you!
DeleteWelcome back.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read about your health problems.
I have read that antibiotics can (and do) upset your gut/body balance and I'm sure the probiotics do/will help.
Many thanks for the chuckles, have a good week.
All the best Jan
Thanks, Jan! I am really happy to be back. The probiotics were very helpful and I am grateful to my doctor for suggesting them. Have a wonderful week!
DeleteWelcome Back! I missed you. I am sorry you were sick, but glad you are doing better. When I was on antibiotics for a cat bite, my Dr. also prescribed the probiotic. Great comics. When I have a mask on and can't lick my finger, it is hard to open the plastic bags so now I find something wet to rub my fingers on like the lettuce that gets sprayed periodically. XO
ReplyDeleteI do the same with bags! I try to find some moisture somewhere to make it easier to open them. Works like a charm. And I am happy to be back. I can't stay away from my blogging friends. xo
DeleteOpening the plastic back is exactly me. They take me a looong time to open.
ReplyDeleteSame for my husband. He's the one that opens them up.
DeleteIt is nice to see you posting and feeling better. Continued good health and happiness to you.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, e!
DeleteI'm glad you feel better. I missed you. When Carol and I go out to eat, Carol always hands the plastic bag to me to open because they drive her crazy.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Thanks, Janie! I'm so happy to be back. I've missed you, too! I go shopping with my husband and he opens up all the bags. He takes one for the team. LOL
DeleteI'm glad you're back and feeling better
ReplyDeleteThanks, Adam! It's good to be back and in good shape, too.
